We are holding a meeting in Blackwood to discuss health and social care services. This provides an opportunity for local older people to come together, share experiences and tell us what matters to you

Age Cymru’s HOPE (Helping others participant and engage) project provides independent advocacy support to local older people (50+) and carers so they can help shape the key decisions affecting their own lives and thereby avoid getting into a crisis situation.

HOPE is committed to helping others participate and engage through independent volunteer advocacy support, raising awareness of advocacy, and developing volunteer skills. The project helps people who may need information and support with issues such as housing, accessing services, dealing with loneliness and isolation or getting the financial and other entitlements they need.

HOPE also helps older people to engage with professionals, take part in community activities, understand their rights as an older person, access information to make informed choices and have their voices heard.

Mae prosiect Age Cymru HOPE (Helpu eraill i gymryd rhan ac ymgysylltu) yn darparu cefnogaeth eiriolaeth annibynnol i bobl hŷn leol (50+) a gofalwyr fel y gallant helpu i siapio’r penderfyniadau allweddol sy’n effeithio ar eu bywydau a thrwy hynny osgoi mynd i sefyllfa o argyfwng.

Mae HOPE wedi ymrwymo i helpu eraill i gymryd rhan ac ymgysylltu trwy gefnogaeth eiriolaeth gwirfoddolwyr annibynnol, codi ymwybyddiaeth o eiriolaeth, a datblygu sgiliau gwirfoddolwyr. Mae'r prosiect yn helpu pobl a allai fod angen gwybodaeth a chefnogaeth gyda materion fel tai, cyrchu gwasanaethau, delio ag unigrwydd ac arwahanrwydd neu gael yr hawliau ariannol a hawliau eraill sydd eu hangen arnynt.

Bydd HOPE hefyd yn helpu pobl hŷn i ymgysylltu â gweithwyr proffesiynol, cymryd rhan mewn gweithgareddau cymunedol, deall eu hawliau fel person hŷn, cyrchu gwybodaeth i wneud dewisiadau gwybodus a sicrhau bod eu lleisiau'n cael eu clywed.

Can you help us make Wales a great place to grow older? Help to meet the HOPE Project objectives by recruiting suitable volunteers within North and Mid Wales to deliver advocacy support at a community level and to support and oversee the establishment and running of a regional advocacy volunteer network, working closely and in collaboration with the local Age Connects and Age Cymru partners.

Must haves:

Experience of working with others to deliver successful projects and services.
Recruiting, managing and working with volunteers.
Knowledge of the issues affecting older people and carers.
Knowledge of local services in the public or voluntary sector.
Experience of coordinating and undertaking a range of communications, marketing and promotion.
Excellent administrative skills, ability to maintain systems, manage processes and attention to detail.
Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships, work collaboratively but also on own initiative.
Experience of coordinating events such as meetings, conferences, workshops, and seminars.
Strong IT, data management and analysis skills.
Ability to speak Welsh (Desirable)
