Volunteer week 2026 is starting to wrap up but we've still got plenty to celebrate 🎉

This post is dedicated to the amazing volunteers working with our children & young people. The care, patience, and enthusiasm you show within your roles is inspiring. There are so many more volunteers not photographed- thank you to each and every one of you for being brilliant. You make a genuine difference across Young Carers Club, Be Friends, & Friday Friends ❤️

Please get in touch with [email protected] if you'd like to get involved.

As it is volunteers week we would love to say a massive thankyou to our Mental Health and Community volunteers who support the NHS, South Wales Police and the Huggard Homeless Centre 💙

The Police volunteers work across Cardiff in the night time to support vulnerable individuals to a place of safety, and support with crime prevention initiatives across the city. During the last academic year they did over 1700 hours, and supported 300+ people to a place of safety on the safety bus.

We had over 100 NHS volunteers this academic year befriending patients in psychiatric, medical, dementia and supported living houses. They have made a huge contribution to patients’ lives.

We have also had a lovely group of volunteers who have been facilitating activities at the Huggard Centre in Cardiff. They have also helped to organise BBQ’s and have created such a lovely community for clients to join in with.

A special shoutout to lead volunteer Amelia who has taken on the role as lead volunteer this year after being a general volunteer last year. She has gone above and beyond to make this project amazing and her efforts have shone through 🌟

Thank you all for your commitment and hard work! ❤️

For the last 10 years, SVC has offered a Befriending scheme to the adults with disabilities who are supported by Innovate Trust. This project helps improve the wellbeing of people who are isolated, provides new opportunities to learn new skills, try new things and meet someone new.

Over this academic year, our Befriending volunteers reported 1,012 volunteering hours. We want to thank them for dedicating their time to help support our community and make a difference!

As part of volunteer week we would like to shine a light on Saffron, an extremely dedicated volunteer who completed 150 hours across our youth projects this academic year🎉

💬"My volunteering experience with SVC as part of my Youth and Community Work placement hours has been truly transformative. I have had the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects, including Friday Friends, The Gathering Spot and Young Carers Club, alongside supporting administrative tasks. From the very beginning, the team at SVC has made me feel welcome, and I will deeply miss not only their support but all the laughs we shared in the office and on the projects!" - Saffron

Thank you Saffron for being so committed and making a real different to the children & young people we support ⭐

We've learnt circus skills, had a picnic, done some cooking, and as you can see eaten lots of delicious pizzas 😆

We're very lucky to be a part of local causes and you can help us out by choosing us as your cause using this link: https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/94883

If you know of anyone aged 11-18 interested in joining our pan-disability group to socialise whilst developing their skills, please get in touch!

Mental Health Awareness Week reminds us that taking action, even in small, everyday ways, can help improve our mental wellbeing.

Hapus is helping people to do this by sharing ideas and tools to help take positive steps to support mental wellbeing, including ways to:
• try something new or make time for a hobby
• spend more time outdoors
• connect with others

This week is about starting conversations, supporting each other, and taking small steps to care for our own wellbeing and the wellbeing of those around us. For more inspiration on how to support your mental wellbeing and help support others too, visit: hapus.wales

A massive thank you to for delivering an insightful and engaging training session for our staff and lead volunteer team yesterday. We learned important skills on how to support someone who is bleeding and what to do if someone is unconscious. These are skills that could truly make a difference in an emergency ❤️‍🩹
