Hold a UK-wide briefing on climate and nature risks
The UK faces growing risks from climate and nature breakdown - from extreme weather to economic disruption and national security threats. Yet the public has never been given a clear national briefing on the scale of these risks. Government should hold an emergency briefing from leading experts.

These risks could have serious consequences across UK society, with threats to health and food supply - which could become irreversible if without urgent action. Many people are unclear how these risks may affect them, and information in the public domain is often misleading.

A credible national briefing from independent experts would give people clear, trusted guidance on what these risks mean in practice, and what we can do - both together and individually - to prepare and respond.

When Andy Burnham became an MP there was only 1 food bank. But 25 years later, there's now over 1,400 food bank centres in our community.

Millions more people have been forced to rely on emergency food parcels. This simply can't go on.

We're calling on the new PM to turn this around. No one should have to turn to a food bank just to get by.

On Wednesday 1 July, the Senedd will debate Motion which calls on the Welsh Government to scrap the Nation of Sanctuary Plan.

You can read the motion here:
https://record.senedd.wales/Motion/9278

Some coalition friends have pulled together a quick update on what's happening, some key messages about the Nation of Sanctuary Plan, and a few ways you can show your support.

🗳️ Nation of Sanctuary: What you need to know

The Nation of Sanctuary Plan is not about immigration policy. Decisions about who can come to the UK, asylum claims and border control remain the responsibility of the UK Government. Instead, the plan sets out how Wales uses its devolved powers to ensure that people who have already arrived here are supported to rebuild their lives, integrate into their communities and contribute to Wales.

The Nation of Sanctuary Plan is built on practical principles: helping people integrate from day one, respecting human rights, strengthening communities, reducing inequalities and ensuring public services work effectively for everyone.

Something brilliant is happening this June. 🌿

Great Big Green Week (6 to 14 June) is the UK’s only mass moment for nature and climate, and this year two million people are expected to take part! Litter picks, nature walks, repair cafés, film screenings, growing projects and much more, in communities right across the UK.

Organise something, find something near you, tell someone about it. However you get involved, you’re part of it!

Visit greatbiggreenweek.com to get started.
