We are delighted to share James's Fundraiser with you. James is a member of Connected and one of our CONNECT Voices Youth Council members and is PASSIONATE about support for adoptees. James is raising money to ensure 18+ adoptees can not only meet up to share their experiences, have support from their peers (and Connected staff) but most importantly have some fun and relax. Activities held in the past have included axe throwing, indoor climbing, to name a couple and give young adoptees an opportunity to talk/get support in an environment that feels 'safe'. We are delighted to be recruiting for our Children and Young People Service in North Wales. Not only will the successful candidate be working within our fantastic CONNECT Service but also on our exciting project Adoption Alliance. We work in collaboration with National Adoption Service and Gwasanaeth Mabwysiadu Gogledd Cymru - North Wales Adoption Service to ensure all adopted children and young people are supported to access our services.

Over the last few months we have been working hard at raising awareness and speaking about the impact of adoption on young people and support they need. One of our CONNECT Voices members, James has attended the National Adoption Service board meeting to share the youth councils views on language used within adoption. We also attended NYAS - The National Youth Advocacy Service fantastic event called My Things Matter where James gave a speech about the short film he helped write and make with other care experienced young people. It was an amazing day 🙂 and great to listen to Dawn Bowden MS and Madlug founder, Dave, give heartfelt speeches.
