πŸ’œπŸ’›πŸ’œπŸ’›πŸ’œπŸ’›

Today, October 26, we shine a light on the amazing individuals who are intersex, and amplify their voices. Let's work together to promote understanding, acceptance, and human rights for all intersex people. 🌟

Intersex Awareness Day is a time to recognize the unique experiences and challenges faced by intersex individuals, and to advocate for an end to unnecessary medical interventions and stigma.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were among the first of such groups to take action at the start of the AIDS crisis.

While the government and mainstream organizations were slow to act, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc. stepped in to educate, comfort, and support those who had taken ill and at-risk communities. They served as caretakers, fundraisers, and grief counselors for those dying around them, and provided visibility and dignity at a time when so many were putting forth hatred and stigma.

Their legacy is a testament to the idea that laughter, love, and solidarity can be forms of both healing and revolution. We are proud to present the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence with this year’s National Leadership Recognition Award in honor of their years of leadership in the face of relentless efforts to silence their message.

RSVP to join us on December 1st in honoring the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and others at our World AIDS Day National Observance: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/world-aids-day-national-observance-2025-tickets-1721085576289?aff=oddtdtcreator

πŸ’œβœ¨ It’s International Pronouns Day! βœ¨πŸ’œ

At the Haus of Nunsense, we believe that using someone’s correct pronouns is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to show respect.

Our community is beautifully diverse: trans, non-binary, genderfluid, cis, questioning, and everything in between...and every person deserves to be seen and honoured. 🌈

Pronouns aren’t just words, they’re a reflection of who we are. Taking the time to listen, learn, and use them correctly helps make our spaces safer, kinder, and more joyful for everyone.

So today (and every day): respect pronouns, ask when you’re unsure, and never assume. πŸ’¬βœ¨

Russell T Davies just told the entire TV industry to grow a pair. At last night's BAFTA Cymru Awards, the "Doctor Who" showrunner and genius behind "Q***r as Folk" delivered a speech that had everyone sitting up straight (no pun intended) - because he said what we're all thinking but too scared to say out loud.

"When times get tough, TV gets timid," Davies warned. He dragged the industry for letting compliance requirements turn writers into self-censoring cowards who kill their own ideas before anyone even gets to see them.

His solution? We need a BBC that stands for "Big Balls Corporation." An ITV that's truly "Independent Television." A Channel 4 that actually stands for something. And - a Netflix that means "Not Enough Trans Films Innit Love?"

Yeah, he really said that. And the room went wild.

But here's where it gets real: "We've seen in America what is happening, how the government is attacking the media. They're literally firing people and literally suing them, and we all know there are people who use that as a playbook. That is coming this way, that's a fact."

Davies has been fighting for q***r stories since Q***r as Folk changed television forever. He's given us "Years and Years", "It's a Sin", and countless characters who dared to exist unapologetically.

And he's making it crystal clear - the fight isn't over. Not even close.

I am so grateful to the lovely Samantha Gadsden for capturing this tender, precious moment between myself and one of my beloved mentors, Sister Ann Tici.... Pation of the Haus of Nunsense - Scotland, Order of Perpetual Indulgence while we were at Pride in the Port on Saturday.

Sister Ann and her colleague Postulant Inya Face had made the trip down from Edinburgh and then had been driven across the Severn by two of our Bristol Sisters (Sister Marguerita Chorizo Grande and Novice Niche Whimsy) to lend solidarity, encouragement and their own delightful blend of chaotic joy to the launch of our new Mission - Abbey of the Red Dragon // Abaty'r Ddraig Goch. πŸ₯°πŸ₯Ή

This hug is emblematic of the unconditional love, acceptance, pride and encouragement that underpins the strong bonds between Members of the Order and which, in turn, fuels our service to our community.

Yes, there are times when we need to step out in righteous anger against injustice, ignorance and cruelty but love is always the deep root that allows us to stand so firm.

As the blazing summer of countless Pride marches turns into the muted, cosy softness of autumn, make sure to nurture _your_ roots and cherish those who give you strength.

Peace and love to you all, my freaky darlings, darklings and cryptids. **mwah!** πŸ’‹βœ¨οΈ
