Some members have heard about an organisation called LASIS and asked questions about who they are. Here is a rundown of the facts.
The South East Wales Education Achievement Service (EAS) was a company that provided school improvement services for five local authorities in South East Wales, including Newport.
According to Companies House, the company changed its name on 8 July 2026 and is now known as the Local Authority School Improvement Service (LASIS).
LASIS remains a private company limited by guarantee, registered at Companies House under company number 08155408.
In its accounts for the financial year ending 31 March 2025, the EAS states that it “received income of £787,329” from Newport City Council.
The NASUWT continues to call for this funding to be provided directly to schools.
