What a busy week the eco team have had!!
Planting, pulling, tidying and running a stall!
Today, we close what has been a busy week with maintaining and tidying Parc y Pentre, ready for the upcoming festival.

A great team of volunteers worked on the entrance path way into the park. And what a difference they’ve made.

Thank you, as always to Jess the Park Ranger for her guidance and to the volunteers for their hard work.

We are always looking to expand our volunteer pool. If you are interested, drop is a note and we can inform you of all the activities that are going on.

Big up to the 12 volunteers, who worked hard at pulling and stamping the Himalayan balsam today, up in the Wenallt.
Also a big shout out to Andrew, Park Ranger, for his guidance and knowledge.
The dent may be small in the grand scheme of things, but it is a great start!
Keep a check on social media and what’s app for next date.

Sat 13th June 10.45am.
Himalayan Balsam is taking over from native species in the Wenallt. We need to pull it up before it flowers and sends out thousands of seeds.

It pulls out easily and then you stomp on it, creating a satisfying crunch!

This is a Ranger led activity and only suitable for older, sensible children who don't mind walking.

Meet past the houses on Rhiwbina Hill, in the layby. Parking is limited so if you want to lift share, get in touch.

Sensible shoes, trousers and long sleeves recommended. Come and join us for a fun couple of hours.

We are meeting at 10.45am for a prompt 11am walk up to our starting point.

Hope to see you there. Please can you message if you can make it, so we know numbers? Thanks!

Check out the new plants! 🌿🌸These are going to look lovely when they start to fill out!

, and are going to have a lovely surprise tomorrow morning when they see the planters outside their shops!

Rhiwbina Eco team have been working closely with to get these planters in place, filled with soil and to secure funding for the plants. It's taken a while, these things always do, but we are so pleased to get them done and to make our village high street look fantastic.

Thank you to for watering them and to all of our volunteer waters who have been busy during the hot spells.

And finally, a special shout out to Nia who has led this project and Mags for being her wing lady. 💪😍

It was an absolute pleasure to host the again yesterday. These guys worked so hard and helped transform our garden in a matter of hours 💪.

Can't wait to see them again in July!

This Innovate Trust Project is providing adults with learning difficulties with valuable work experience. It helps them to develop their skills and move one step closer towards paid employment in the green sector. Our community garden, found at the back of All Saints Church, Rhiwbina, is a great place for volunteers to hone those skills.

We have been working with volunteers from the for a couple of years and are always delighted with just how hard the team always work. And what polite and lovely individuals to boot!

Thank you to everyone involved - Our own volunteers, All Saints Church for providing us a venue, use of the hall and donuts! and of course to .

***TODAY HIMALAYAN BALSAM SESSION CANCELED***

Due to recent heavy rain and predicted high winds this afternoon (and some decaying ash trees in the woods) the Ranger has taken the decision to cancel the session today.
If any of you were with us last year, you will remember hearing a tree fall in the near distance.. it does happen!

We have another session booked in for next Sat at 11.00, meet up 15 mins earlier.
Please join us next week.

Apologies for the cancellation, but your safety has to take precedent.
