📷 1 - This doll is named Peter, and he belonged to Gwen Samuel nee Llywelyn who lived on Whitchurch Road. Peter possibly came from the antiques shop that her father used to own.

Peter was donated to the museum by Gwen’s daughter, Margaret. Margaret remembers Peter being a part of their family home in Llandaff, she never played with him but he had “always been there.”

In 1941, the family had to leave their house in Llandaff due to the bombing. When the family returned to the house they found that the roof had collapsed, but Peter and the cat had survived.

📷 2 - This photograph shows Gwen and her husband, Lewis Samuel, in the garden of their home in Llandaff (March 1959). Gwen is holding the doll.

Rydym yn cloddio i gasgliad yr amgueddfa er mwyn rhannu gwrthrychau a straeon sy'n archwilio hanes plentyndod yng Nghaerdydd.

📷1 - Roedd y ddol hon (o'r enw Peter) yn perthyn i Gwen Llywelyn (Llilian Gwendolyn Llywelyn) a oedd yn byw ar Heol yr Eglwys Newydd. Mae'n bosibl bod y ddol yn dod o'r siop hen bethau yr oedd ei thad yn arfer bod yn berchen arni.

Rhoddwyd Peter i'r amgueddfa gan ferch Gwen, Margaret. Mae Margaret yn cofio Peter yn eu cartref teuluol yn Llandaf. Doedd hi byth yn chwarae gydag e ond roedd e “wedi bod yno erioed”.

Ym 1941, bu'n rhaid i'r teulu adael eu tŷ yn Llandaf oherwydd y bomio. Pan ddychwelodd y teulu i'r tŷ fe wnaethon nhw ddarganfod bod y to wedi cwympo, ond bod Peter a'r gath wedi goroesi.

📷 2 - Mae'r ffotograff hwn yn dangos Gwen a'i gŵr, Lewis Samuel, yng ngardd eu cartref yn Llandaf (Mawrth 1959). Mae Gwen yn dal Peter.

This FROG Toy Aeroplane belonged to Stephen Jeremy, who grew up in Roath, Cardiff.

FROG was a British brand of model aircraft under International Model Aircraft Ltd. between the 1930s and 1970s.

Stephen’s aeroplane is the Mark V Single Seat Fighter and was featured in the 1960 FROG catalogue. It was gifted to him by his uncle, who served in the RAF. Whenever his uncle came home to Cardiff, he would bring a toy for Stephen and his two sisters.

Stephen remembers being around eight or nine when he would play with his plane in 1960. He recalls: “I was always crashing it and it would fall to pieces… I never wanted to throw it out. It was different compared to other lads’ toys at the time.”

Rydym yn cloddio i gasgliad yr amgueddfa er mwyn rhannu gwrthrychau a straeon sy'n archwilio hanes plentyndod yng Nghaerdydd.

Roedd yr awyren tegan FROG hon yn perthyn i Stephen Jeremy, a fagwyd yn y Rhath, Caerdydd.

Roedd FROG yn frand Prydeinig o awyrennau model o dan International Model Aircraft Ltd. rhwng y 1930au a'r 1970au. Awyren Stephen yw'r Awyren Ymladd Sedd Sengl Marc V ac mae i’w gweld yng nghatalog FROG ym 1960.

Fe'i rhoddwyd iddo gan ei ewythr, a wasanaethodd yn yr Awyrlu Brenhinol. Pan fyddai ei ewythr yn dod adref i Gaerdydd, byddai'n dod â thegan i Stephen a'i ddwy chwaer.

Mae Stephen yn cofio bod tua wyth neu naw oed pan roedd yn chwarae gyda'i awyren ym 1960. Mae'n cofio: "Byddai bob amser yn cwympo ac yn syrthio'n ddarnau... doeddwn i erioed eisiau ei daflu allan. Roedd yn wahanol i’r teganau eraill oedd ar gael i fechgyn ar y pryd."

📺Starting with a nostalgic piece of television history for children growing up in the 1980s.

SuperTed was a cartoon series featuring a teddy bear with superpowers. The series was created by Mike Young and was made in Cardiff in the early 1980s.

It was the first programme broadcast on S4C, a television channel aimed at Welsh speaking audiences.

The objects from the collection include:

Promotional poster - This is a poster showing SuperTed and his friend Spotty leaving the tree-house where they lived. There were lots of toys, games and posters made featuring SuperTed and his friends. There was even a playhouse shaped like Ted's treehouse.

Model sheet - The model sheets showed the animators how to draw SuperTed so that he always looked like the same bear whoever drew him.

Drawing panel - This panel shows how many drawings it took for an ordinary teddy to turn into SuperTed when he said his secret magic word.

ℹ The promotional poster and model sheet are currently on display in our Entertaining Cardiff exhibition.

Rydym yn cloddio i gasgliad yr amgueddfa er mwyn rhannu gwrthrychau a straeon sy'n archwilio hanes plentyndod yng Nghaerdydd.

📺Dewch i ni ddechrau gyda darn hiraethus o hanes teledu i blant a dyfodd i fyny yn yr 1980au.

Roedd SuperTed yn gyfres cartŵn am dedi bêr â phwerau arbennig.
Crëwyd y gyfres gan Mike Young a chafodd ei gwneud yng Nghaerdydd ar ddechrau'r 1980au. SuperTed oedd y rhaglen gyntaf i gael ei darlledu ar S4C, sianel deledu wedi'i hanelu at gynulleidfaoedd Cymraeg.

Mae'r gwrthrychau o'r casgliad yn cynnwys:

1. Poster hyrwyddo oedd hwn yn dangos SuperTed a’i ffrind Smotyn yn gadael y tŷ pen coeden lle roedden nhw’n byw. Roedd llawer o deganau, gemau a phosteri a wnaed yn cynnwys SuperTed a'i ffrindiau. Roedd hyd yn oed tŷ chwarae wedi'i siapio fel tŷ pen coeden Ted.

2. Roedd y dalenni templed yn dangos i’r animeiddwyr sut i dynnu SuperTed fel ei fod wastad yn edrych fel yr un arth pwy bynnag fyddai’n gwneud y gwaith darlunio.

3. Mae’r panel hwn yn dangos faint o ddarluniau a gymerodd hi i dedi cyffredin droi'n SuperTed pan oedd yn dweud y gair hud cyfrinachol.
