Did you know about this little reading shed outside St Andrews Church in the coffee court? What a gorgeous spot to take a breather away from the hustle and bustle of Wellfield Road! You could grab a coffee and watch the world go by!

The church also holds a Zumba class and a theatre cafe. This area has so many opportunities to socialise, get outdoors and improve fitness-all of these things can help to improve your overall wellbeing. Next time you are in the area check this lovely place out!

👀Spotted👀

We came across this poster in Wilko and thought we would share. If you or someone you know have been thinking about playing bowls, then this is your sign to give it a go!

🌺Mindful Monday🌺

The mindful exercise for you to try this week is a full body scan, where you mentally scan your body for tension, tightness, pain or anything else out of the ordinary. It’s easy to do and has a range of benefits:

⬇️ Reduced stress
💪🏾 Less muscle tension
🕊 Anxiety relief
🧘🏾‍♀️ Greater self-awareness
💤 Better sleep
😖 Reduced pain

1️⃣ Find a quiet place and sit or lay comfortably. Close your eyes and begin concentrating on your breathing for a few minutes.

2️⃣ Focus on your toes, wiggle them, how do they feel? Gradually do this for each area of your body until you get to the top of your head.

3️⃣ When you feel tension, imagine it decreasing with each breath. Visualise it releasing.

There are lots of body scan meditations to listen to that will guide you through a full body scan, have a look on YouTube, start with a short one and gradually build up.

Let us know how you get on!

🎮Gaming and Wellbeing🎮

Gaming is an increasingly popular hobby, last year 42.7 million games were sold in the UK, and globally there were 3.24 billion gamers.

Gaming, in any form, can provide an escape from ‘normal life’, social interaction and satisfaction from in-game achievements. But there are also some downsides of gaming, including feeling out of control with gaming habits (eg excessive time playing), getting frustrated/angry and gaming getting in the way of responsibilities and goals.

completed a study this year, ‘Exploring the lived experience of players’ mental wellbeing’. The study found that gamers don’t necessarily link their gaming habits and mental wellbeing, and ‘active reflection’ using a gaming log can help to make this link. A free, downloadable gaming log is available at https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/our-work/research/gaming-and-mental-health/gaming-log You can also read the full report on their website and learn more about gaming and wellbeing.
