Founded in 2010 Media Academy Cardiff (MAC) is a voluntary organisation working with over 1500 Children and young people from across SE Wales. Our chosen method of engaging young people includes high impact media op

portunities including music, video and photography and a bespoke Men's Barber in Churchill Way Cardiff City Centre. Operating from six locations across South Wales, the team challenges all young people to make positive choices and positive transitions in their lives. All of MAC’s services and programmes are underpinned by restorative practices and in 2016 the organisation was awarded the RSQM kite mark. National award winners of the WG Excellence award 2014,2015 and 2016.

We’re pleased to be delivering the Young Carers Support Pembrokeshire service!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🌊

Young carers take on important roles within their families, and it’s vital they are supported in a way that recognises their strengths, supports their wellbeing, and gives them space to be young people.

At Media Academy Cymru (MAC), we’ll be working alongside young people aged 5–25, their families and partners across Pembrokeshire - offering relationship-based, youth-centred support that fits around real life.

We’re looking forward to getting to know young people, listening to their experiences, and working together with local partners to support what matters most to them💙

Sarah supports over 120 learners every year and transforms lives by breaking down barriers and proving that education belongs to everyone.

We’re looking for two passionate and experienced freelance tutors to join our dynamic education and training team:

🎮Game Development Tutor – based at MAC HQ, Cardiff

🎥Media & Content Creation Tutor – based at CAVC Barry Campus

Start Date: Immediately

Rate: £132–£150/day (freelance)

MAC delivers BTEC courses at Levels 1-3 to post-16 learners, with a strong emphasis on creativity, wellbeing, and inclusive education. Our learners are diverse, talented, and full of potential, and we’re looking for tutors who can help them unlock it.

Both tutors will:

🙌🏼Deliver engaging, practical lessons in their specialist subject

🙌🏽Plan, assess, and internally verify learners’ coursework

🙌🏿Carry out regular well-being check-ins with students

🙌🏼Organise and support extracurricular learning activities

🙌🏽Deliver and assess Essential Skills Wales qualifications in Communication and Application of Number

🙌🏽Maintain accurate records and manage teaching-related admin

🎮Game Development Tutor – Cardiff (MAC HQ)🎮

You’ll teach hands-on game development to post-16 learners, helping them explore creative tech and build industry-relevant skills. Ideal availability: Monday–Wednesday, term-time only.

🎥Media & Content Creation Tutor – Barry (CAVC Campus)🎥

You’ll deliver practical sessions in filmmaking, photography, animation, and digital media. Ideal availability: Monday–Wednesday, term-time only.

We welcome applications from experienced tutors and industry professionals ready to share their craft. You should have:

🙌🏼A teaching qualification, youth work experience, or relevant industry background

🙌🏿Experience working with young people in educational or mentoring settings

🙌🏾Strong organisational skills and a collaborative mindset

🙌🏼A passion for inclusive, creative education

Thrilled to announce that MAC has been shortlisted for TWO awards at the Criminal Justice Alliance Awards 2025 in London! 🥳 We're finalists for both Outstanding Individual and Outstanding Medium Organisation.

This recognition highlights our commitment to transforming the criminal justice system. The Outstanding Individual award celebrates exceptional dedication, while the Outstanding Medium Organisation award recognises our impactful work regionally and nationally. We're proud to explore key issues, influence policy with co-produced, evidence-led findings, and connect practitioners, researchers, and voices from lived experience.

MAC are delighted to have been invited to the launch event for the Police and Crime Commissioners' Children and Young People’s Police, Crime and Justice Plan, a new initiative outlining six key priorities dedicated to enhancing young people's safety.

The event featured a keynote speech delivered by Steph, the Coordinator for PAC Cymru, who addressed the critical role of trusted adults in young people's lives. Her presentation emphasised the fundamental responsibility of professionals to consistently centre young people in all aspects of their work within the justice system.

It was such a special day that highlighted the collaborative efforts and future strategies for supporting children and young people in South Wales.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
