🌍 Shared Journeys – Windrush Day Celebration 2026

On 31 July 2026, the Cardiff Yemeni Community Association (CYCA) was proud to host our Shared Journeys Windrush Day celebration, bringing together community members, and guests to honour the rich history and lasting contributions of the Windrush Generation and the Yemeni community in Wales.

The event featured an engaging exhibition and presentation exploring over 150 years of shared history, from the arrival of the first Yemeni seafarers in Cardiff to the Windrush Generation's invaluable contribution to building modern Britain. Together, we reflected on our shared heritage, celebrated diversity, and recognised the important role both communities have played in shaping Wales.

Guests also enjoyed delicious food and refreshments, creating a wonderful opportunity to connect, share stories and celebrate our cultures together.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success. Together, we continue to build stronger, more inclusive communities for future generations.

We are grateful that this event was funded by the Welsh Government through the National Windrush Day 2026 Small Grants Programme and administered by Race Council Cymru.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Handling Anti-Social Behaviour Workshop yesterday.

A special thank you to Sergeant Samantha Johnson and her team from South Wales Police, Councillor Helen Gunter from Cardiff Council, Mr Khizer from Race Equality First, and Sheikh Ahmed Ali from Al-Ikhlas Centre for sharing their knowledge and supporting our community.

Thank you also to all our volunteers and everyone who attended for making the event such a success. Together, we can build a safer and stronger community. We look forward to seeing you at our future events, Insha'Allah.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Road Safety and Traffic Regulations Workshop. Your participation made the event a great success.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the team from South Wales Police, especially Sergeant Samantha Johnson, for delivering such valuable information and engaging with our community.
