💚 May Impact 💚

May has been a month of community, connection and shared action across Wales 🤝

From volunteers giving their time to partners helping us move good food to where it's needed most, we've continued working together to support communities and reduce food waste 🌱

Every meal shared, every delivery made and every act of support helps turn surplus into something meaningful — strengthening communities, supporting people and protecting the planet 💚

Thank you to our volunteers, partners and supporters for being part of our journey this month.

💚 Effaith Mai 💚

Mae Mai wedi bod yn fis o gymuned, cysylltiad a gweithredu ar y cyd ledled Cymru 🤝

O wirfoddolwyr yn rhoi o'u hamser i bartneriaid yn ein helpu i symud bwyd da i'r mannau lle mae ei angen fwyaf, rydym wedi parhau i weithio gyda'n gilydd i gefnogi cymunedau a lleihau gwastraff bwyd 🌱

Mae pob pryd a rennir, pob dosbarthiad a phob gweithred o gefnogaeth yn helpu i droi bwyd dros ben yn rhywbeth ystyrlon — gan gryfhau cymunedau, cefnogi pobl a diogelu'r blaned 💚

Diolch i'n gwirfoddolwyr, partneriaid a chefnogwyr am fod yn rhan o'n taith y mis hwn.

💚 Meet Our Perfect Pear: Allyson & Joe 💚

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we're celebrating the incredible people who give their time to support FareShare Cymru and communities across Wales.

Allyson and Joe joined FareShare Cymru as volunteers in late 2024 and have become familiar faces in our warehouse, helping pick orders that ensure good-to-eat surplus food reaches the people and organisations who need it most.

For Allyson, one of the most rewarding parts of volunteering is seeing the immediate impact of their work. For both Allyson and Joe, it's also about being part of a welcoming community and doing something meaningful together.

While this story shines a spotlight on Allyson and Joe, it also represents the dedication of volunteers across FareShare Cymru who give their time, skills and energy every week.

Whether you're sorting food, picking orders, supporting community food members, helping in our kitchens, making deliveries or volunteering behind the scenes, thank you. 💚

Behind every crate, every delivery and every meal shared, there's a volunteer making it happen.

Diolch yn fawr.

💚 Cyfarfod â'n Pâr Perffaith: Allyson a Joe 💚

Fel rhan o Wythnos Gwirfoddolwyr, rydym yn dathlu'r bobl anhygoel sy'n rhoi o'u hamser i gefnogi FareShare Cymru a chymunedau ledled Cymru.

Ymunodd Allyson a Joe â FareShare Cymru fel gwirfoddolwyr ddiwedd 2024 ac ers hynny maent wedi dod yn wynebau cyfarwydd yn ein warws, gan helpu i gasglu archebion sy'n sicrhau bod bwyd dros ben da i'w fwyta yn cyrraedd y bobl a'r sefydliadau sydd ei angen fwyaf.

I Allyson, un o'r pethau mwyaf gwerth chweil am wirfoddoli yw gweld effaith uniongyrchol eu gwaith. I Allyson a Joe fel ei gilydd, mae hefyd yn ymwneud â bod yn rhan o gymuned groesawgar a gwneud rhywbeth ystyrlon gyda'i gilydd.

Er bod y stori hon yn rhoi sylw i Allyson a Joe, mae hefyd yn adlewyrchu ymroddiad gwirfoddolwyr ledled FareShare Cymru sy'n rhoi eu hamser, eu sgiliau a'u hegni bob wythnos.

P'un a ydych yn didoli bwyd, yn casglu archebion, yn cefnogi aelodau bwyd cymunedol, yn helpu yn ein ceginau, yn gwneud danfoniadau neu'n gwirfoddoli y tu ôl i'r llenni, diolch i chi. 💚

Y tu ôl i bob crât, pob danfoniad a phob pryd sy'n cael ei rannu, mae gwirfoddolwr yn gwneud y cyfan yn bosibl.

Diolch yn fawr.

🥬 Produce of the Month: Spinach! 🥬

Fresh, vibrant and packed with goodness, spinach is one of the easiest ways to add extra nutrients to everyday meals. 💚

Rich in iron, fibre and vitamins A and C, spinach helps support energy levels, immunity and overall wellbeing. It’s also incredibly versatile, making it easy to use in everything from curries and soups to smoothies and savoury dishes.

Through FareShare Cymru, surplus fresh produce like spinach can reach community groups, schools and charities across Wales, helping to provide access to nutritious food and support healthier communities.

👨‍🍳 This month, our Culinary Lead Liam shares three simple spinach recipes:
🥔 Spinach & Potato Curry
🥣 Creamed Spinach Soup
🥞 Spinach Pancakes

💬 How do you like to use spinach in your cooking? Share your recipes and photos with us in the comments!

👨‍🍳🔥 Meet Liam, our new Culinary Lead, who joined the FareShare Cymru team back in April!

Since joining, Liam has been keeping our volunteers and staff very well fed while bringing loads of energy, ideas and chef tips into the kitchen 🍽️

This week we were excited to hit the road for our very first cooking demo at Wyndham Street Pantry in Cardiff 🚐

In this video, Liam shares why “wonky” carrots and spotty bananas are still perfectly good to eat and sometimes even better! 🥕🍌

It’s all part of helping people make the most of their food, build confidence in the kitchen and reduce food waste along the way ♻️

Safe to say Liam’s already cooking up a storm… and this is only the beginning 👏

👨‍🍳🔥 Cwrddwch â Liam, ein Harweinydd Coginio newydd, a ymunodd â thîm FareShare Cymru ym mis Ebrill!

Ers ymuno, mae Liam wedi bod yn cadw ein gwirfoddolwyr a’n staff yn dda iawn eu bwyd tra’n dod ag egni, syniadau ac awgrymiadau cogydd i’r gegin 🍽️

Yr wythnos hon roeddem yn gyffrous i fynd ar y ffordd ar gyfer ein harddangosfa goginio gyntaf ym Mhantre Wyndham Street yng Nghaerdydd 🚐

Yn y fideo hwn, mae Liam yn rhannu pam fod moron “hyll” a bananas smotiog yn dal yn berffaith dda i’w bwyta ac weithiau hyd yn oed yn well! 🥕🍌

Mae’r cyfan yn rhan o helpu pobl i wneud y mwyaf o’u bwyd, magu hyder yn y gegin a lleihau gwastraff bwyd ar yr un pryd ♻️

Mae’n saff dweud bod Liam eisoes yn coginio storm… a dim ond y dechrau yw hyn 👏
