Today on International Youth Day, we’re celebrating the amazing youth leadership that shapes Scouting in Merthyr.

A huge shout‑out to our District Youth Lead Volunteer, who makes sure youth voice leads the way in everything we do — empowering young people, championing their ideas, and strengthening youth influence across our District.

Thank you to every young person who brings energy, creativity and leadership to Merthyr Scouts. You inspire us every day.

Our Beaver Scouts (ages 6–8) are full of energy, curiosity and big ideas — and we’re excited to welcome new families in Merthyr Tydfil as we open our waiting list for September.

Beavers get involved in all sorts of activities: building things, exploring outdoors, solving challenges together, trying new skills and discovering what they can achieve as part of a team. Every session brings a new adventure, helping young people grow braver, more confident and proud of what they can do.

If your child loves being active, working with others and getting stuck into hands‑on fun, Beavers is a brilliant place to begin their Scouting journey.

Happy National Day of Play! Play is at the heart of everything we do — from games and challenges to outdoor adventures and creative activities. It helps young people build confidence, make friends, and learn new skills in a fun, safe environment.

But play isn’t just for children. Our volunteers get just as much out of it — whether it’s rediscovering their own sense of fun, learning new skills, building friendships, or enjoying the buzz of helping young people thrive. Play brings our whole Scouting family together.

From messy play to mini adventures, our 4–6 year olds learn new skills every week in a fun, safe and welcoming space. It’s the perfect first step into Scouting, helping little ones grow in confidence, make friends and try new things.

🧣 World Scarf Day – Celebrating 119 Years of Adventure!

Today Scouts have been celebrating World Scarf Day, and our Cub Scout bear has joined in with a very special scarf — the commemorative 100 Years of Cub Scouts (1916–2016) necker.

This year marks 110 years of Cub Scouting, and it’s the perfect moment to celebrate the young people who make Merthyr Scouts what it is. From Squirrels taking their first steps into Scouting, to Cubs learning new skills and Scouts tackling big adventures, the scarf represents belonging, confidence and fun.

Our young people wear their scarves with pride — at camps, on hikes, in the community, and every time they try something new.

💚 Here’s to the next generation of Merthyr Scouts, building skills for life one adventure at a time.
