🙏 RIVER TAFF DEDICATION AND LITTER PICK IN HAILEY PARK. 🧹
🌍 World Rivers Day
15 people braved the rain showers and sang out strongly our Dedication to the River Taff and to friends unable to make today and to those no longer with us. 🙏
Llandaff North Community Choir gained a new choir member 🥳
7 hardy beings set off after for a River Bank clean up!
We safely and (we think) gracefully shimmied (don't tell us otherwise if you saw us scrambling 😂), working with nature where the soil and tree roots held us firm on the banks while gathering litter.
Thanks to Benthyg Cymru litter picking Hubs for the loan of equipment!
😪 It was sad to see the remnants of wet wipes, sanitary wipes and towels two years on from the 2024 storm floods and Combined Sewer Overflows, still in the soil and on the trees and bushes. Other litter was mainly cans and bottles and food wrappers but we did find a whole Tarp too. 6 bags full from one hour picking! 👏👏👏
📜Its why serious consideration needs to be given to Rivers and Nature having Rights enshrined in law as these plastics do not break down.
‼️ It is also why we are all encouraged:
🚻🚻 ONLY to flush the 3 P's: P*e, Poo, Paper
🚮 and use the litter bins on Hailey Park or take rubbish home.
Diolch pawb!
