WWF Cymru

WWF Cymru WWF Cymru is the Welsh office of WWF-UK. WWF Cymru yw swyddfa Gymreig WWF-UK. WWF is the world’s leading independent conservation organisation.

Our mission is to create a world where people and wildlife can thrive together. To achieve our mission, we're finding ways to help transform the future for the world’s wildlife, rivers, forests and seas; pushing for a reduction in carbon emissions that will avoid catastrophic climate change; and pressing for measures to help people live sustainably, within the means of our one planet. We’re acting

now to make this happen. WWF yw'r sefydliad cadwraethol annibynnol mwyaf blaenllaw'r byd. Ein cenhadaeth yw creu byd lle y gall pobl a bywyd gwyllt ffynnu gyda'i gilydd. Er mwyn cyflawni ein cenhadaeth, rydym yn dod o hyd i ffyrdd i helpu i drawsnewid y dyfodol ar gyfer bywyd gwyllt, afonydd, coedwigoedd a moroedd y byd; gwthio am ostyngiad mewn allyriadau carbon a fydd yn osgoi newid trychinebus yn yr hinsawdd; ac yn pwyso am fesurau i helpu pobl i fyw'n gynaliadwy, o fewn gyfrwng ein un blaned. Rydym yn gweithredu nawr i wneud i hyn ddigwydd.

Whether it's record breaking heat or rainfall, trees have an important role to play in helping us adapt to extreme weather - keeping streets cooler and slowing the flow of water.
We simply need more of the right trees in the right places.

Boed yn wres neu lawiad sy'n torri record, mae gan goed rôl bwysig i'w chwarae wrth helpu ni i addasu i dywydd eithafol - gan gadw strydoedd yn oerach ac arafu llif dŵr.
Yn syml, mae angen mwy o'r coed cywir yn y mannau cywir.

Help your local wildlife with these top tips.
It’s hot! So as well as looking after ourselves, here are a few ways to help wildlife.
- If you have a bird bath, top it up to help birds cool off and stay hydrated.
- Create sheltered areas for wildlife to use in the heat so they can stay cool.
- Avoid trimming overgrown areas of your garden. Thicker, unpruned plants can help provide secure resting areas.
- Flowering plants in shady areas will also be a welcome relief for bees and other insects.

Mae'n boeth! Felly, yn ogystal â gofalu amdanom ni ein hunain, dyma gwpwl o ffyrdd i helpu eich bywyd gwyllt lleol.
- Os oes gennych chi faddon adar, gwnewch yn siŵr eich bod chi'n ei lenwi.
- Rhowch fowlen o ddŵr mas ar y llawr. Gallwch hefyd ychwanegu cerrig bach i greu pyllau i bryfed cael yfed!
- Creu mannau cysgodol i fywyd gwyllt i alluogi nhw i ddianc o'r haul.
- Osgoi torri'r planhigion sydd wedi gordyfu yn eich gardd. Gall planhigion mwy trwchus darparu mannau gorffwys diogel.
- Bydd planhigion blodeuol mewn mannau cysgodol hefyd yn rhyddhad croesawgar i wenyn a phryfed eraill.

The new Climate Change Committee report makes one thing clear: climate change poses real, immediate risks to the UK.
The threats highlighted have stark and immediate consequences for the UK’s economy, finance sector, food system, and communities. When considered alongside the nature loss crisis and the potential for earth system tipping points, the risks are likely to be even more severe.

This new Welsh Government has a critical opportunity to shift the dial and drive rapid and effective action to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.
The solutions already exist and with the right decisions and actions, we can protect the people and the places we love.

Mae gan y bygythiadau yma ganlyniadau llym ac uniongyrchol i’r economi, sector cyllid, system fwyd a chymunedau'r DU. Drwy ystyried hwn ynghyd â'r argyfwng natur, a'r potensial am bwyntiau tyngedfennol peryglus byd-eang, mae'n debygol bydd y risgiau hyd yn oed yn fwy difrifol.

Mae gan Lywodraeth Cymru newydd gyfle hollbwysig i yrru’r gweithredu sydd angen er mwyn osgoi effeithiau gwaethaf newid hinsawdd.
Mae'r atebion yn bodoli. Gyda'r penderfyniadau a'r camau cywir, gallwn ni amddiffyn y bobl a'r llefydd rydyn ni’n eu caru.

Penblwydd Hapus! Happy 100th Birthday, Sir David Attenborough!
For a lifetime, Sir David Attenborough has inspired people to notice, love and care for the natural world. As he turns 100, we’re celebrating not just an extraordinary individual, but the wonderful world he’s helped us all fall in love with.
🌍
Am oes gyfan, mae Syr David Attenborough wedi ysbrydoli pobl i sylwi, i garu ac i ofalu am y byd naturiol. Wrth iddo droi’n 100 oed, rydym yn dathlu nid yn unig unigolyn eithriadol, ond y byd rhyfeddol y mae wedi ein helpu ni i syrthio mewn cariad ag ef. 🌍

Our colleagues in Scotland shared the most beautiful image this week, and we wanted to make sure you saw it too! A red squirrel and a woodland draped in a carpet of bluebells – something straight from a fairy tale 💜
Bluebells stay dormant underground over winter, before they bloom in the springtime to soak up energy from the sun. Remember to avoid stepping on or picking them so they can keep returning year after year.
Un o'n tîm yn yr Alban - delwedd mor brydferth, roedden ni eisiau sicrhau eich bod chi'n gweld e hefyd!
Gwiwer goch a choetir wedi'i orchuddio â charped o glychau'r gog – rhywbeth yn syth o stori dylwyth teg 💜
Mae clychau'r gog yn aros yn segur o dan y ddaear dros y gaeaf, cyn iddynt flodeuo yn y gwanwyn. Cofiwch osgoi camu arnynt neu eu pigo fel y gallant barhau i ddychwelyd flwyddyn ar ôl blwyddyn.
