We're really pleased to announce our new project, Cook & Share, will be starting in September thanks to support from The National Lottery Community Fund/ Cronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol 🙌🙌🙌

Over the past year we've been able to pilot some short cooking projects and we got really useful feedback and ideas from community members. This has shaped our Cook & Share project which will start in September 2026 and run until April 2028 and include:

🍳 Men's Grub Club (twice a month)
🍝 Shared Table Community Meals (termly)
🍛 Family Cook & Share Meals
🥘 Slow Cooker Courses in Autumn and Winter
🥗 'Plot to Plate' Family Club (Summer 2027)

We're incredibly grateful to have been supported by Greggs Foundation for the past two years and we're thrilled to announce that we've now been awarded a three year grant from their Community Action Fund 🎉🎉🎉

In the first year the grant will support St Mellons Pantry as well as our running costs at The Hive. Support towards running costs and core costs is so important to us as a small charity looking after a large building. Few funders really appreciate the value of supporting running costs (rather than project costs) and it makes a massive difference. The majority of our projects and community groups wouldn't be possible without The Hive and support towards sustaining The Hive benefits so many community members. We're so grateful for the relationship we have with Greggs Foundation. Thank You ❤️

📣 Bank Holiday Reminder 📣

We won't be open on Tuesday 26th May.

This follows the Bank Holiday Monday when The Hive will be closed to give volunteers and staff a well-deserved rest. As such we'll not be receiving our usual Monday delivery of food for the Pantry. We appreciate your understanding and support and wish everyone a sunny and relaxing bank holiday weekend ☀️

We'll see you next on Tuesday 2nd June 😁

St Mellons Pantry has now been running for 4 years and, like many community food projects, it has become more challenging to sustain over time. The Pantry remains open but we’re starting to explore how our community food offer could change to be more sustainable.

We've spoken to a lot of our Pantry members and visited some great projects across Cardiff. We have some ideas for possible future projects and activities, but we don’t want to make decisions without hearing more widely from the community first. We’d really value your thoughts, ideas and feedback about what could come next and what would be most useful locally.
