What a lovely morning we had last Sunday giving nature a hand at Flaxland Woods, in Gabalfa, Cardiff, as part of π
β Over 30 people joined us to help improve the woods for nature & the local area!
β We put up bird & bat boxes in Flaxland Woods to help
β We improved our flower bed, adding edging and improving the soil. We planted lots of pollinator friendly heathers & bulbs (bluebells, fritillary & daffodils)
β We made lots of pine cone bird feeders - children and adults alike loved making these! We hung some up in Flaxland Woods & families took some home to encourage birds into their own gardens
π Diolch to RSPB Cymru for your support & funding, and Global Gardens for supplying the bird boxes!
β We also collected 12 bags of rubbish from nearby lanes & streets, as well as along the edge of Flaxland Woods. Some of our helpers are regular litter pickers, some tried it for the 1st time.
π Diolch to Maes y Coed Community Centre - Cardiff for lending us the equipment
We all had a great time and it was especially lovely for the kids to get involved!
We look forward to doing more soon - we're still talking to Cardiff Council about future plans - watch this space! π
