Minginish Community Association (MCA) has some exciting news!!
We have now submitted the planning application for the housing development at Portnalong. The application is for 6 houses, an application for outline planning for a further house will follow. Four houses will be for affordable rent, and two will be for Low Cost Home Ownership.
You can view and comment on the planning application via this link
https://wam.highland.gov.uk/wam/applicationDetails.do?keyVal=TLKI03IHL8G00&activeTab=summary
This is a key milestone in the development, and we wish to thank our architects, Catoe/Brown, Cameron Ross (engineers) and the Communities Housing Trust for their support to date. The application was submitted by Minginish Community Council on MCA's behalf to benefit from a reduced planning fee and we’re thankful for their support.
Work to date has been funded by MCA’s own funds, the Scottish Land Fund, HIE, The Rural and Island Housing Fund (feasibility stage).
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Housing Development Officer Elizabeth by email at [email protected]

We are delighted to welcome Elizabeth Taggart to the Minginish Community Association team! 🌟
Elizabeth is joining us as our new Project Officer for the community housing project and we are incredibly lucky to have her on board. Elizabeth brings loads of experience to the role—she was the project officer with the Raasay Development Trust when they successfully built six community houses. She has also worked with the Communities Housing Trust, supporting other communities with their housing projects.
She will be steering our project through its next crucial stages, from overseeing the planning application, raising finance and ultimately, with a *lot* of hard work and a fair wind behind us, getting the homes built. 🏡🔨
You’ll probably see Elizabeth out and about in the community over the next few months - please give her a very warm welcome!
