NCI Canvey Island The National Coastwatch Institution is a voluntary charity organisation keeping a visual watch along UK shores.

Based at Canvey Point, NCI Canvey Island watches over the Thames Estuary and the beaches from Leigh-on-Sea to Southend Pier as well as Canvey. A voluntary organisation keeping a visual watch along UK shores. As part of the National Coastwatch Institution, NCI Canvey Island's station is staffed entirely by volunteers, providing eyes along the coast in pursuit of the protection and preservation of life at sea and along our coastline.

NCI Canvey Island up coming events:

Friday 28th August - Canvey Island Town Council Community Day outside Canvey Library 10 am to 3pm.

Thursday 3rd September - Leigh on Sea Town Council Merchant Navy Day service at Strand Wharf, Old Leigh 10.45 am to 12.30 pm alongside National Coastwatch Southend

Saturday 5th September - THE ORSETT SHOW at the Orsett Showground 9 am to 6 pm

Saturday 12th September - NCI Canvey Island Dog Show at The Island Yacht Club doors open 10 am with judging starting at 11 am by Dame Rebecca Harris MP. Have the opportunity to visit our station and see where all your generous donations go!

Saturday 19th September - Canvey Morrisons supermarket collection 9 am to 5 pm

Why not come along and see us at any of these events to find out more about what we do and how we help to save lives at sea and along the coast by acting as the local eyes and ears of HM Coastguard.

See how much easier it is to spot someone in the water?

Wearing bright colours such as neon yellow, green, orange and pink can improve your visibility in the water and make it easier for others to spot you if you get into difficulty.

In an emergency at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

CALLING ALL DOG OWNERS!!!

Please come and help support NCI Canvey Island your local National Coastwatch Institution Coastal Lookout Station, by entering your dog(s) into our fund raising dog show to be held at The Island Yacht Club , Point Road, Canvey Island, on Saturday 12th September, with judging by Dame Rebecca Harris MP for Castle Point.

Get the opportunity to see where your generously donated money goes to as we keep a visual and VHF Radio listening watch over the Thames Estuary, looking out for any person, vessel, or animal that may get into difficulty or be in need of assistance, and report any such incidents to HM Coastguard who will then co-ordinate a rescue.
