I'd like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who made last night's Christmas lights switch on in St John's Crescent such a beautiful occasion. Heartwarming to see hundreds of friends and neighbours gathering together to kick off the Christmas season in such good spirits. There's so many people who contributed in so many ways so THANK YOU to every single one of you. I hope you enjoyed the night & that the lights keep your spirits bright over Christmas. Lots of love to you all ###

Hello Neighbours,
We wanted to share some wonderful news — thanks to your generosity, we’ve raised almost £1,800 for the St. John’s Crescent Christmas Lights Project! This means we can go ahead with another magical switch-on this year.
Your support helps cover the installation and removal of the lights, the replacement of weather-worn decorations, the Christmas tree, and the free food and drinks we offer on the night. Whether you donated, volunteered, or simply encouraged others to get involved, thank you. This project truly thrives because of our community.
Our beautiful tree is in position, Lightsource have installed the lights and we look forward to welcoming you on Sunday.

Was anyone else following Sara Cox on her marathon challenge to raise funds for Children In Need? What an absolute legend, I'm in total awe of her. 9.5 million quid!!

My running trainers are stuffed firmly in the back of the cupboard but I'm just letting you know that we've still got our local fundraiser going raising funds to light up St. John's crescent in Canton in a couple of weeks...Nov 30th 5pm.
We have pizza, crepes and curry on offer, mulled wine and non alcoholic drinks & some fantastic entertainment lined up.
Folks have been so generous and it's looking good, we're almost there in covering the essential costs for the switch on. With one week left for our Crowdfunder to run I'm giving anyone who hasn't yet donated but still wants to a reminder that there's still time. There's also a cash donations box in the church if the QR code is too tech-y!!

Hello!
Now that we're in November the Christmas lights switch on event is drawing pretty close. The lighting crew will be here in just over two weeks for the first fix...the fundraiser is creeping up but we're not close to the amount we need to make this project as bright and shiny as previous years. 500 flyers have gone out and posters are up over Canton. If you could share this link and spread the word it could really help us raise the funds we need to do this. If you've been meaning to donate but haven't yet done so it would really help us to know the funds we have to work with in advance of the actual switch on. Donations on the actual night are hugely appreciated but can only go towards next year's event...

Hello Cardiff friends and neighbours. Our Christmas lights fundraiser is getting there slowly but surely. So far we have raised enough to cover the costs of the existing lights going up and coming down safely care of our friends at Lightsource...we still have a way to go to buy the tree & all of the refreshments for the switch on event. The fundraiser is well and truly underway and we would love your donations big or small to ensure we can provide a lovely lights display and a festive switch on this Nov 30th in St. John's Crescent, Canton. Ok folks here we go.
The sound of jingle bells are only faintly in the distance but now the super markets have stocked their first Christmas aisles we're matching that energy and launching the 2025 Crowdfunder for this year's community Christmas lights event in Canton.
Lots to pay for and replace and if we make enough we'll make it bigger & brighter.
November 30th is the date for the switch on.
It would be lovely to see a big community turn out again. Please share far and wide.
