We have loved hosting Maya's Food Bank Team at Cityspace on a Sunday evening, but now it's time for them to leave us and move on to a new venue. Find out where they will be from this Sunday first March onwards…

Hi everyone, due to further building works this week, our next opening time will be Monday 23rd from 10:30-12:30.

Maya's Community Support Centre & FREESHOP’s Training Academy should be fine for Sunday but watch their page for details.

Today we are missing our good friend and volunteer Andrew Pantling, who many of you will also know and love, and who died suddenly over the weekend.

Andrew has been part of cityspace, and our Canterbury Boiler Room community since its earliest days. He has dreamed with us, laughed with us, wrangled with us - central to everything we have done. He also served Canterbury Street Pastors, and many other groups in the city with dedication and kindness. We are shocked and heartbroken that he is not here with us.

We are open today from 10:30-12:30, but please bear with us this week if we need to make changes to our opening times as we process this news as a community. We’ll post here if there is a change to our advertised timings.

cityspace will be open again soon … we promise!
We’ve finished our refit after the great flood of July 2025, and we’re all set to open again, but we’re having a bit more work done in the building this week, so please bear with us a bit longer!
We’re hoping to be able to start opening again from Tuesday 13th January …
Watch this space for dates and times when we’ll be open.
We can’t wait to see you all again, … for free drinks and snacks and friendly company in our new-look space.

Good morning everyone! We are absolutely delighted to be able to let you know that Maya's fabulous team will be back at Cityspace this coming Sunday 28th to distribute food from 6pm.
Unfortunately we aren't yet in a place to open our usual Cityspace drop-ins during the week, because we still have a fair bit of work to do to get the place cozy and comfortable again. Hopefully we will be back up and running very soon! Watch this space 🙂

Morning everyone! Cityspace is still recovering from flooding, but you can find Maya's lovely team at chatterbox tonight. 

On the ground we witness first-hand how much families struggling financially are affected by holiday hunger and we are trying our best not to cancel any of our food banks even in critical circumstances!
Some kids have to go hungry for days which impacts their health, development, and ability to concentrate!

While our permanent Sunday Canterbury Food Bank’s spot, lovely and warm cityspace is being refurbished after flood damage we have to change locations weekly. We want to apologise for any inconvenience caused!

Today Our Sunday Canterbury food bank is at 6pm at beautiful Chatterbox Cafe 9 Castle Street CT1 2QF Everyone struggling welcome! Thanks to amazing owners of Chatterbox Community Cafe for their hospitality and kindness!

Also we want to thank Kent Fire and Rescue Service Canterbury for accommodating our food bank last Sunday! Together we are making a huge difference to local community ❤️❤️

Herne bay Food Banks are Daily at 9pm in our Free Shop opposite Hampton school.

Here at cityspace we are still waiting on insurance companies, but the work of the wonderful Maya's community support Centre carries on, and we are so grateful for that. Check below to see where you can go this evening at 6 pm for food. 

Super positive news this early morning!

Canterbury Fire Station has kindly opened their doors to the local community and will be accommodating our Sunday Food Bank!

As some of you know we have been running Sunday food banks for over a year in cityspace which recently has been affected by flood damage. We want to thank Chatterbox Cafe for providing us emergency space to run our food bank last Sunday. This week we welcome anyone struggling financially to attend our Sunday food bank at 6pm at Canterbury Fire Station.(Please use side entrance of fire station volunteers will be there to help you)

When we unite to support those in need, it creates a powerful force for positive change!


Also at Sunday food bank you will be able to ask for Free fire safety advice and book a free fire safety visit to your home ,at these visits Canterbury Fire Station will be able fit free smoke alarms , help you to make your own escape plan and receive friendly advice to help reduce risk of fire in your home! Good morning everyone! We are now well on the way to getting cityspace cleaned up after the flood on Monday, but unfortunately we will not be ready in time for Meyer and her lovely team to distribute food this evening (27th of July). We very much hope we will be cleaned up soon though, so watch this space!

Unfortunately, cityspace is now flooded and most of our ground floor is currently underwater. We will be unable to open for the foreseeable future. We are so sorry! We will do our best to get our lovely little shop cleaned And made beautiful again as soon as we can, so we can put the kettle on and welcome you back in.
Please do spread the word to anyone you know who might be planning to come in during one of our opening times.
