Yesterday we had the lovely Beth visit us from Superior Healthcare Group. It was lovely to hear about the work that they do and share news of our new Counselling and peer support groups.
Beth, despite not meeting us before brought us cake - which as everyone knows never goes amiss at Headway! Thank you! 🙏

Next up in thanking our volunteers is Keith, who volunteers in our Folkstone Hub

Being a brain injury survivor himself, Keith is able to support clients through shared experience.
Keith often challenges the group to think in new ways and is never afraid of taking on the bigger issues or concerns that often come up after a brain injury.

Keith is an integral part of the team and contributes to the work we do through generating ideas for cognitive sessions, fundraising and forms of individual support. He checks in with everyone and is always on the pulse of the next tea and coffee round too!

Today for volunteers week, we are starting by thanking Abbie.

Abbie is a natural when talking with our members.
Her genuine interest and openness towards Brain Injury is so noticeable.

Abbie is an invaluable volunteer in that she makes clients feel safe by truly listening to them and asking insightful questions. Her kind and caring approach adds to the warm and welcoming environment that we so value in our hubs.

Abbie's sense of humour is also vitally important in making her a standout volunteer, enjoying nothing more than a really good laugh with the group.

So Abbie.

Rounding out the day with another thank you for a wonderful volunteer, we have Dharini.

While we have spoken already about some of our volunteers in our hubs, Dharini is a great example of some of the many different ways you can volunteer.

Dharini volunteers her time helping with creating social media posts for us, connecting in from home and liaising with the team to work on some of images you see. (Although not this one, because that would have been mean.)

We are so grateful for all our volunteers, including those whose contribution may go otherwise unnoticed.

So Dharini, from all of us here at Headway Kent.
Thank you ❤️❤️

Today members of our Hythe group had a grand day out.
The best bit is, they planned it all themselves, working with the staff to make it work.

First meeting up and getting drinks at Grind n Bake Coffee House & Bakery , where the staff were all as amazing as the drinks.

Then they headed to the Folkstone Museum, having a good look around before heading out for lunch.

It certainly looks like they had an amazing day. A huge thank you to everyone at both locations that helped make it special, and a well done for our members, for taking it on themselves to help create the plan.

Continuing with our Volunteers Week thank you posts, today we start by highlighting Jacob.

Jacob first came to us for student placement, and kept coming back.

Jacob has become a key part of our team, and recent input has included helping to assemble the planters for our new out door space, creating a "Where is the...?" type list to help new comers to our Canterbury Hub, and the biggest task.
Reorganising and sorting the dreaded store cupboard. (Anyone who has ever run anything knows there is always "That cupboard" and Jacob single handily tackled it.

So Jacob, from all of us here at Headway Kent.

Thank you! ❤️❤️

Today we are celebrating one of our amazing volunteers, Linda.

Linda has been volunteering at our Thanet Hub since 2023.
She has become an integral part of that hubs sessions.

Her gentleness, kindness and dedication has made it very easy to provide the excellence we strive for.

From all of us here, Linda, thank you. ❤️❤️❤️
