We’re delighted to announce that FOUR of our lovely GAPS members are swapping the Aphra Behn Theatre for a rather different stage this Christmas!

They’ll be joining St Mary’s Church for their hilarious family pantomime…

Four familiar faces from GAPS are swapping Oscar Wilde for a little festive mayhem, in
A Lad in a Manger!

David, our co-founder, and director/ light and sound, is stepping into the fabulous shoes of Widow Swanky!

Louisa, our fellow co-founder, and director is taking on the role of Joe!

Sue, whom you may remember as our wonderful promt, and played sweet Violet in A Candle for Elvis, is back for more theatrical mischief!

And Caroline? She’s traded in the dog collar, and brushing up on her braying!

The cast of The Importance Of Being Earnest reunites for our belated Wrap Party.
Sadly Cecily couldn’t join us, and Alice,
was at a rehearsal, for her next up coming play, and Cat had prior arrangements.

Lady Bracknell,
I’m pleased to say was extremely satisfied with everything, and didn’t once ask about a person’s income.
Jack was thoroughly relieved he didn’t have to explain his parentage again and Algernon showed remarkable restraint with the food.

Lane announced, that airing dirty laundry in public was totally acceptable,
and Merrimen said the upper classes could clear their own plates.

Miss Prism left her handbag totally unattended, and Dr Chausuble refrained from giving a sermon.

I think Oscar Wilde would be horrified!

For now, we are all going Bunburying to the countryside.

……….I forgot to mention, Bunbury has made a miraculous recovery.

Just a little look back at our journey so far…

What started as Louisa and David’s vision of creating a local amateur community theatre, bringing together like-minded people, with a shared love of the performing arts, has blossomed into something rather special.

From our very first one-act play, complete with live music, to taking the exciting leap into our first full-length production.

it’s been a wonderful journey.

And the best part? We’re only just getting started!

One of the loveliest bits of feedback from our recent production was just how surprised people were to discover our theatre!

Many arrived expecting a typical village hall, only to find the wonderful Aphra Behn Theatre, tucked away in the beautiful Kent Downs.

Our surprisingly spacious stage, lovely auditorium and beautiful rural setting certainly exceeded expectations. So many people also commented on the friendliness and the warm welcome from the moment they arrived.

We may be a little off the beaten track, but that’s all part of the magic!

One week ago today, we were treading the boards!

Hard to believe it’s already been one one week since we we brought The Importance of Being Earnest to life!

So many laughs, brilliant audiences and memories we’ll be talking about for a long time.

So proud of our wonderful cast and crew, and friends and family that mucked in to help with teas and coffees!

The nerves, the lines, the backstage chaos and all the laughter made it something really special.

Already missing it all… especially the excuse to be a little bit pompous!

AND THAT’S A WRAP… BUT NOT FOR LONG!

The curtain has come down on The Importance of Being Earnest.
But there’s no rest for the wicked… or the theatrical!

GAPS will be back on stage in FEBRUARY with our next production!

Watch this space… all will be revealed very soon. 🦆

Earnest may be over, but GAPS is only just getting started.
