🚨UPDATE🚨

Upon the adoption of the Cannock Chase Local Plan; we are delighted to announce the whole district is protected from speculative applications. This includes Bloors attempts to build on Greenbelt land on the Hednesford Road.

This is a HUGE victory for us all, and gives CCDC the powers and control over where developments can be built. This in turn allows for an infrastructure led brownfield first approach to our planning process across the district.

Our concerns regarding:
• Lack of school places
• Lack of health provisions
• Infrastructure improvements from previous large scale developments in the village that haven’t materialised
• Serious concerns with the viability of anymore strain on Five Ways island on the Hednesford Road, have been listened to.

The planning committee, John Preece, Josh Newbury and John Hemingsley have worked tirelessly attending meetings, supporting us throughout the process and relaying residents concerns. All prior mentioned have the best interests of local issues at heart and play major roles in ensuring Norton Canes and Cannock Chase District continue to be fantastic places to live.

It has been great in the past weeks to see the quality arable farming land Bloors wanted to bulldoze, being prepared for crops not concrete.

We will continue to fight for the protection of our greenbelt land and green spaces in the village.

We will continue to fight for a village where children are able to have a school within walking distance, and where by appointments at the doctors are far more accessible for current residents.

Thank you for the continued support of you all, in particular committed members of the residents’ group:

🚨UPDATE 🚨

During the last few months there has been some great work regarding the renewal of the local plan and housing targets across the district and Norton Canes. The planning committee, parish council, CCDC and NCRG have put forward our concerns particularly about OVER development in Norton Canes and the protection of our GREENBELT land.

We have also highlighted our concerns particularly regarding the local infrastructure.

Road improvements have NEVER been delivered, schools are FULL with children having to go to neighbouring towns and villages for education and healthcare provisions are already inadequate for the current local population. This is UNACCEPTABLE!

All these points have been AGREED with by everyone involved including CCDC and most importantly the Inspector overseeing the renewal of the Local Plan.

As we are nearing the final stage of this process, currently NO housing development in Norton Canes has been included!

🚨 HOWEVER … 🚨

Bloor Homes are continuing to attack CCDC and the Inspector’s decision! They continue to try and get their hands on as much highly profitable Greenbelt land as they can! 💰

❌ DESPITE the land in question on the Hednesford Road remaining Greenbelt and therefore should not be considered for development BLOOR HOMES consider this land to be “Grey” THIS IS WRONG!!

❌ CCDC and the Inspector agree that Norton Canes has been overdeveloped, yet BLOOR HOMES continue to ignore us all!

❌ BLOOR Homes, and their umbrella companies, have already decimating precious Greenbelt land across the district and now THEY WANT MORE! 💰

❌ BROWNFIELD sites (waste land and old industrial sites) have been put forward for housing by CCDC and agreed with by the Inspector, however BLOOR HOMES want more wildlife rich Greenbelt land to be used instead!

❌ NONE of BLOOR HOMES site would do anything to help with affordable housing problems across the district! They want big expensive eyesores on heritage land!

❌ FIVE WAYS ISLAND in particular and other traffic routes out of the village are already impassable at busy times, BLOOR HOMES want to put MORE cars on our roads.

BLOOR HOMES have complete disregard for the Inspector, CCDC and our residents concerns!

We will continue OUR FIGHT to protect our precious GREENBELT!

We will continue to be heard and raise legitimate concerns as mentioned above!

A FINAL decision from the Inspector is expected in the New Year!

🧑‍🎄 Merry Christmas and thank you for all your support
