Formal Invitation Received for Scrutiny Meeting

We can confirm that Cannock Chase Theatre Trust has been formally invited to attend an Economic Prosperity Scrutiny Committee meeting.

CCTT directors will be present to provide the committee with full context on our involvement in trying to save the Prince of Wales Theatre, including the Community Asset Transfer bid, the assessment process, and the multitude of issues we've raised about the process as a whole.

This meeting will scrutinise two call-ins challenging Cabinet's December decision to demolish the Prince of Wales Theatre using Levelling Up Fund money that was originally allocated for cultural regeneration - not demolition.

The public gallery will be open, and while residents cannot speak during the meeting, your presence sends a clear message to councillors about what matters to this community.

PRACTICAL DETAILS:
📍 Council Chamber, Civic Centre, Beecroft Road, Cannock
🕕 Arrive by 5:45pm (limited capacity, first come first served)
⏰ Meeting starts 6pm

We know the weather conditions are challenging with snow and freezing temperatures. Please only travel if it's safe to do so - we genuinely appreciate anyone who can make it to the Civic Centre to show their support under these difficult circumstances.

After months of working to save our theatre - raising over £34,000, gathering 21,000+ petition signatures, and producing detailed business plans independently assessed at 79% viability - this scrutiny process is a crucial moment.

Two groups of councillors have formally challenged Cabinet's demolition decision. They deserve to see that the community stands with them.

Don't let bureaucracy defeat democracy - let democracy defeat bureaucracy.

If you can attend, please do. If you can't, share this post so others know.

The fight for our town's theatre continues.
