To our local Councillors and Planning Team:

Recent wildfires have devastated natural habitats across our area. The wildlife that survived now depends entirely on our last remaining green belt, grassland, and scrub patches — these are their only remaining food sources, shelter, and safe corridors.

We therefore call for an immediate moratorium on all new housing developments on green belt and grassland habitats until:

✅ A full independent ecological survey is completed to map what wildlife lives there and what has become critical refuge since the fires
✅ Fire-impacted wildlife corridors and recovery zones are formally identified and protected
✅ All suitable brownfield and previously developed land has been prioritised for new housing — before touching irreplaceable green space
✅ The local community has been fully consulted — so your decisions reflect what we actually want for our area

We recognise the need for housing. But homes must be built responsibly — not at the expense of nature's recovery. These spaces are not "empty land" — they are lifelines. If we build now, we bulldoze the very places our wild neighbours flee to for safety.

Please pause. Survey. Choose wisely. Protect our Wildlife.

A quick thank you and an urgent reminder of what this is really about:

In just 8 hours, this has reached nearly 4,000 people and countin across different groups, Thank you from my heart to everyone who’s read, shared, and stood beside this message. It shows: we DO care. We DO want responsible housing AND a future for our wildlife. We are NOT alone in this.

It is happening RIGHT NOW. And whether these fires were started by accident or deliberately, One thing does NOT change:

🔥 The wildlife still lost their homes
🔥 These remaining green spaces are STILL their ONLY refuge
🔥 If nature is being harmed or targeted, the LAST thing we should do is finish the job with concrete

If these spaces are under threat, they need MORE protection — not less. They need to be left alone to recover

Let’s stay focused on what unites us:

✅ Our wild neighbours that have survived fire — let’s NOT bulldoze their last safe places
✅ We deserve a say in our shared green spaces

This isn’t “anti-housing.” It’s pro-common sense. It’s pro-responsibility. It’s saying: progress doesn’t have to come at nature’s expense. Nature shouldn’t be punished twice — once by fire, then by concrete.

Thank you for standing with our wildlife, our community, and our future. Every share, every quiet nod, every voice matters. Keep speaking up. Truth travels fast — especially when it's undeniable 🌿🦊🏡

— Thank you.

A good turn-out despite the heat to hear our member Sheila’s ‘two stories in one’. Sheila bought a ramshackle farmhouse in France for renovating and discovered a previous occupant was a 3 year old Jewish girl who had been hidden from the Nazi’s by the farming family.
Sheila received a thank you bouquet from member Celia.
