Eve and I enjoyed the best hour of our week today. We were invited to speak to P4/3 in Dalintober Primary School who were learning about Gambia last term. We gave a PowerPoint Presentation full of amazing memories for us and answered many clever and appropriate questions from P4/3 students. The pupils had questions about transport, houses, pets, food and schools. We wished we could just book a flight for a visit to see old friends and have some of Halimatou’s chicken benachin for dinner. Thanks for having us Miss O’May and P4 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇲🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Our last post consisted of bags of football strips heading off to Dunoon for former toubab Charlotte to take with her on their schools recent trip to Tanzania. These strips were donated to us pre-lockdown by and although many were distributed in Gambia on our last trip in 2020, we haven’t been able to get back to Gambia since and some strips remain in storage. Having shared the Tanzania pictures personally the other day, it was lovely to then see photos of the boys who originally wore these strips. It is brilliant to see the happy smiling faces of the boys in Tanzania while knowing how many years ago these strips were actually worn here at home. The power of football across the world.

Gosh it’s been a while since we posted on here!!
Despite us not currently having a working Gambia Group, we continue to support our amazing teacher Halimatou and families in The Gambia on a monthly basis.
The bags in the photo tonight are full of football strips which were donated to us by CDJFA - Campbeltown and District Juvenile Football Association in 2020. Many of their donations were taken to Gambia with us in 2020 before lockdown but the rest have been in storage awaiting another trip.
One of our former “toubab” students from 2016, Charlotte, is heading to Tanzania later this month. This time as a teacher with a group from Dunoon Grammar School. We are very proud of Charlotte and delighted to share these donations with her and the Tanzania Group from Dunoon. We can’t wait to see donations from the wee toon in another African Country. I am sure Charlotte and team will share some photos of your strips in Tanzania. Trip organiser Chris hopes to take as many of the strips as possible with them later this month. Have an amazing time guys! and huge thanks to Iain Graham for help with the delivery of the donations.
