Abbey People aims to develop community cohesion and support the most at-risk in this deprived area through targeted community projects, provision of general support such as a community fridge, supporting access to education and employment and developing a culture of volunteering in the community. Its work focuses on the most deprived area of Cambridge, an area which according to the multi-deprivat

ion indices has become more deprived between 2015 and 2019. Abbey People was established in its current form in 2013, having transferred the work of Abbey Action from Cambridge City Council, with some of its workers having 20+ years’ experience in the area.

Join us on a community litter pick in Abbey to help keep the local area clean

Meet us at 9:30am outside Abbey Pool reception and we will litter pick around the local area.

Everyone is welcome at this litter pick! All equipment will be provided, and there will be ‘Nature and Litter Loot’ activity sheets for what litter children might find. This event is open to adults and children of all ages, all children must be accompanied by an adult.

What do you need to bring?
Water bottle
Dress appropriately for the weather and wear closed toe shoes like walking boots or trainers

A little extra fun at Eager Explorers! 🔬

As well as all the exciting science, technology, history and nature activities at Abbey Together Eager Explorers, we’ll also be running a tombola to help raise funds for Abbey People. There’ll be some great prizes up for grabs, so if you’d like to have a go, please bring some cash with you. We’ll also have a card machine available for anyone who doesn’t have cash.
