Abbey in Cambridge Coming together to make Abbey a better community in Cambridge

Abbey People aims to develop community cohesion and support the most at-risk in this deprived area through targeted community projects, provision of general support such as a community fridge, supporting access to education and employment and developing a culture of volunteering in the community. Its work focuses on the most deprived area of Cambridge, an area which according to the multi-deprivat

ion indices has become more deprived between 2015 and 2019. Abbey People was established in its current form in 2013, having transferred the work of Abbey Action from Cambridge City Council, with some of its workers having 20+ years’ experience in the area.

It’s and we want to say a huge thank you to all of our amazing volunteers.

Volunteering can mean so much more than giving your time. It can bring confidence, friendship, purpose and a sense of belonging.

Our latest blog shares a really powerful story about finding acceptance and meaning through volunteering, and how being part of a community can change lives in unexpected ways.

If you’d like to get involved and volunteer with Abbey People, we’d love to hear from you. There are lots of different ways to help, whatever time you can give. Find out more here: https://abbeypeople.org.uk/volunteer/
