"At its core, the brain is made of individual cells that make decisions."🧬

What happens when those decisions go wrong?

Professor Valeriya Malysheva and her team bring together maths, computation and biology to explore how brain cells make both healthy and harmful decisions.

By modelling how brain cells respond to signals, her work is uncovering the hidden rules that drive neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, opening up new possibilities for treatments and early diagnosis.

What a pleasure it was to bring members of the Trinity Hall community together in Portsmouth this weekend, welcoming alumni and their guests for a memorable evening aboard HMS Warrior.

Set on one of the most remarkable ships of the 19th century, the evening combined history with a relaxed, sociable atmosphere that gave guests the chance to tour the ship before gathering for a drinks reception and dinner on board.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the Trinity Hall Association for organising the event. It was a great reminder of how strong the Trinity Hall community is, wherever it gathers.

Say hello to our new graduates! 🎉

Congratulations to all our postgraduates who were awarded their degrees today.

We can safely say that graduations are some of our most treasured days, and we're so proud of all our students.

From master's degrees in machine learning to PhDs helping to develop COVID-19 vaccines, it's been an honour to celebrate our students' hard work and determination!

We can't wait to see what they get up to next.

The descendants of Robert King, former Master of Trinity Hall, visited the College from Idaho to see his memorial.

King’s association as a Fellow and Master of the College coincided with a period of political turmoil, which ‘interrupted’ his election as Master, a position he held in 1645 and then, following the turmoil, again from 1660-1676.

The black memorial slab commemorating King is situated prominently in the centre of the College Chapel. Chris King (pictured in the white shirt with his family) is a direct descendant of Robert King, and we were delighted to receive photographs of their visit to College.

“It was watching mooting finals on YouTube that convinced me to study law at university, so having the opportunity to compete in such a prestigious competition felt like a real full-circle moment.”

Congratulations to Trinity Hall law undergraduate Sam Moore, who was part of the University of Cambridge team that reached the final of the Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.

This year, around 390 teams from around the world took part, making the team’s progression to the final a significant achievement.

Professor Campbell McLachlan KC, Staff Fellow at Trinity Hall, highlighted the team’s “stellar success” at a recent celebration of their achievement hosted at Trinity Hall, recognising both their dedication and the strength of support behind them.

You thought sport would stop because it's exam term? Think again!🏏🥇

Our students continue to achieve great feats across College and University sport all year round.

In football, our Trinity/Emma/Trinity Hall women’s football club won Plates (picture one), our Trinity Hall men’s team made it to the Plates final, and PhD student Stéphen Theron-Grimaldi's team won the MCR Cup 2026 (picture two)!

On the River Cam, our 4 Trinity Hall Boat Club crews had many successes in the Radegund Mile, a series of 2km time trial races (picture three).

And at the University level, PhD student Mineli Cooray (picture four) hit the ground running in Varsity Cricket at Lord's Cricket Ground, securing a victory against rivals Oxford. You'll see her next competing in Varsity Tennis - watch this space! 📸Jed Leicester / MCC
