Termly Crisis: the Munich Crisis

It is autumn 1938 and Europe stands on the brink of war! N**i Germany has just annexed Austria and stands ready to invade Czechoslovakia. Delegates will have to negotiate this tense atmosphere to find peace for our time, not just for a time.

We will bee meeting at Medwards Fountain for our termly crisis at 11 AM on Tuesday 16th. This promises to be our best event this term!

For our next speaker event of term we are proud to be hosting Sir Laurie Bristow at CUUNA!

Sir Laurie Bristow, appointed President of Hughes Hall, Cambridge in 2022, was a British diplomat for 32 years. He was Ambassador to Afghanistan during the fall of the Republic to the Taliban in 2021, the UK’s Ambassador to Russia from 2016 to 2020, and Deputy Ambassador to Russia from 2007 to 2010. He was Ambassador to Azerbaijan from 2004 to 2007. Sir Laurie regularly writes and comments on Russia and national and international security issues. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute, a Senior Associate Fellow of the European Leadership Network and Visiting Professor at LSE Ideas.

The event will take place in Seminar Room C at the Department of Land Economy, 17 Mill Lane.

This week we will be discussing the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence-driven automation in the EU labour market. This debate will be a simulation of the European Parliament and is open to all (or no) levels of experience.

The debate will also be followed by a group trip to Jack’s - what’s not to love?
