We are excited to reveal the Michaelmas 2026 CUUNA term card. This term is particularly special as we are celebrating our 80th anniversary of being Cambridge’s foremost society devoted to international diplomacy and furthering understanding of the United Nations.

We have a great slate of debates, speakers, socials and more coming this term. As we approach our 80th anniversary as a society we are proud to represent Cambridge’s foremost society devoted to discussion international issues and raising awareness of the goals and aims of the United Nations.

CUUNA will be at the Cambridge Freshers’ Fair on the 6th and 7th of October!

CUUNA is Cambridge’s foremost society devoted to discussing global issues and international relations. We hold regular debates and talks from speakers within the world of diplomacy. Devoted to promoting the aims of the United Nations, CUUNA is one of the oldest UN societies in the UK and we continue to work with the UN and its organisations to ensure greater understanding of the work they do!

You are warmly invited to attend the side event β€œRethinking Engagement with the United Nations for the Next Generation” hosted at the United Nations Mongolia Pavilion in the Blue Zone. An opening address will be delivered by Mr. Jaap van Hierden, UN Resident Coordinator for Mongolia, followed by a panel discussion on how to better engage youth at the United Nations.

Termly Crisis: the Munich Crisis

It is autumn 1938 and Europe stands on the brink of war! N**i Germany has just annexed Austria and stands ready to invade Czechoslovakia. Delegates will have to negotiate this tense atmosphere to find peace for our time, not just for a time.

We will bee meeting at Medwards Fountain for our termly crisis at 11 AM on Tuesday 16th. This promises to be our best event this term!

For our next speaker event of term we are proud to be hosting Sir Laurie Bristow at CUUNA!

Sir Laurie Bristow, appointed President of Hughes Hall, Cambridge in 2022, was a British diplomat for 32 years. He was Ambassador to Afghanistan during the fall of the Republic to the Taliban in 2021, the UK’s Ambassador to Russia from 2016 to 2020, and Deputy Ambassador to Russia from 2007 to 2010. He was Ambassador to Azerbaijan from 2004 to 2007. Sir Laurie regularly writes and comments on Russia and national and international security issues. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute, a Senior Associate Fellow of the European Leadership Network and Visiting Professor at LSE Ideas.

The event will take place in Seminar Room C at the Department of Land Economy, 17 Mill Lane.

Join us for our second debate of term!

This week we will be discussing the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence-driven automation in the EU labour market. This debate will be a simulation of the European Parliament and is open to all (or no) levels of experience.

The debate will also be followed by a group trip to Jack’s - what’s not to love?
