Walking Connections - the HI Friends Women's walking group, will not be taking place this Thursday but will resume on Thursday 17 September at noon, meeting at Station House Cafe.

Enjoy a 1-2 mile walk around the locality followed by a cafe stop for a coffee & chat.

Further to our post yesterday:

Sole Sisters are already out here roaming free as an established global rambling association for midlife women - so, taking it in our stride, we've renamed our HI Friends group to 'Walking Connections'.

Walking Connections will start with a short 1-2 mile walk for women (of any age), & finish with a cafe stop. With no rambling apart from potentially the verbal kind, the group will provide a healthy opportunity to relax, connect & actually carve out some 'me' time with like-minded ladies, co-led by local qualified psychotherapist Sophie Howell. ☕️

Walking Connections will meet each 3rd Thursday monthly outside Station House Cafe.
The first meet will be Thursday 16th July.

What a brilliant Fun Day Sunday - a spectacle of colour & activity, with 30 Histon Feast stalls, face painting, an array of activities from croquet to a rather tempting inflatable obstacle course & so much more. There was a definite festival vibe as people relaxed on the Rec & watched 4D Dance perform to the crowds including hip hop beginner mens group "Outa Sync".

🎼The marquee was alive with stage presence starting with Churches Together, followed by A Music Man Performance, Lift Music Collective (loved that xylophone), followed by the superb sounds of CB Soul.

🍧It was all washed down with home-made ice cream before the final act of the Rec Centenary Festival - The Impingtones 10th anniversary choral concert. Their magical performance spanned a few decades of music (and centuries). True Colours by Cyndi Lauper was a personal favourite along with the lively 1920's solo sung by Director Bridget Hardy that she had chosen in keeping with the Festival Centenary theme & the era the Rec was created.

🎊Great close, to a great week in which over a thousand tickets were sold. All profits will go towards the wellbeing services & activities that HI Friends provide in the community. THANK YOU to all of you who supported us by buying tickets to events & entering the raffle, as well as the support from local businesses through prize donations & sponsorship, especially Thomson Webb & Corfield & Redmayne Arnold & Harris.

🍻Thanks also to the Histon Beer Festival, Resolute AV, & the amazing staff & volunteers who endured the heat to help made this idea become a reality.

Incredible stage presence from Graffiti Classics yesterday evening - the nimbleness of can-canning fiddlers in such heat is no mean feat!
..the evening saw just short of 400 fans gathering for the England v Panama match, after music from Pony.

Thanks to everyone who made the day so special. We particularly enjoyed the fan engagement like the conga round the marquee & the football themed face & nail art!

Final day today - Festival Fun Day Sunday - they'll be tons of family fun activities between midday and 4pm, including running races & 4D dance students on stage including a brand new men's beginner hip hop group who are sure to be a crowd pleaser!

From Elton John to Myley Cyrus, Carla Gray & the Rendition Function Band belted out some amazing songs last night in the festival marquee.

As the sun went down in the balmy evening, the ice buckets of prosecco were substituted for the dance floor to strike a pose, not least Don from the Histon Beer Festival bar, who was spotted performed some impressive shapes. By the end of the night there were pleas for 'one more song!' from the crowds.

Wish all summer evenings were like this 😎🥂

🌟Fabulous opening night of the Histon & Impington Recreation Ground Centenary Festival last night with Comedy. Thanks to Shappi Khorsandi, Paul Tonkinson, Jules O'Brian & masterful MC Ben Van Der Velde for a night of laughs and excellent entertainment 👏😂🤩

Great decision to have open sides to marquee to allow light breeze through all evening 💨
..and the takeaway of the night was: food buzzer + comedian = prime target 🤣

NEXT UP TONIGHT: local legend Carla Gray and the Rendition Function Band singing a superb set list of songs and favourites - lots to sing along to and dance to🧑‍🔧

Any tickets left will be on sale at the gate this evening. Doors open at 6.30pm - the clock is ticking!!!⏰

For our other festival events, tickets will be sold on the gate just before the given event, where tickets are still available. Fan Zone however, on Saturday evening has sold out & we've been contacted by many people trying to buy Fan Zone tickets, so advice is: secure your places online in advance rather than risk disappointment by delaying!
