"Falwell’s political activism had effects far beyond the borders of the United States. He believed that the Bible prophesied world events, and because America is not in the Bible, these prophecies concern other countries, most notably the Soviet Union and Israel. Like other dispensationalists of the Cold War era, he believed that the Bible foretold the rise of the Soviet Union in the prophecies about Gog and Magog in Ezekiel 38."

"At the heart of the political ideology that underpinned the Religious Right was Falwell’s millenarian understanding of the Cold War. He believed that this era was biblically foretold and indicated the imminency of the apocalypse"
