Blue Smile

Blue Smile We're a children's mental health charity in Cambridgeshire providing arts based therapy in schools.

Blue Smile is a children's mental health charity in Cambridgeshire supporting pupils with specialist arts based therapy in schools. Research shows that this early specialist intervention really helps children avoid long term mental ill health. It can quite simply be life-changing.

3 children in every UK class are now likely to have a mental health difficulty - and the problem is growing. It's als

o a little known fact that children's wellbeing in parts of Cambridgeshire is amongst the very worst in the country. Without specialist support, vulnerable children can go on to develop mental illnesses and anti-social behaviours, which puts huge pressures on local services and costs our community dear.

Last week during Mental Health Awareness Week, a brilliant team at Apache Capital and Present Made completed a 60 mile cycle challenge for Blue Smile's mental health support.

When children are given the opportunity to explore and share their difficult feelings, it helps normalise talking and reaching out for help - so they know they don't have to struggle alone.

We can all take action by normalising having a conversation about mental health - not just this Mental Health Awareness Week, but every week 💙

Sharing when we're struggling is really important, but it often isn't easy to open up - especially for a child. Our Clinical Services Manager Anita Gatt shares her tips for supporting your child to talk about their mental health.

Look out for more tips coming later this week!
