A twist on everyone’s favourite folklore hero, Robin Hood. Spoiler: this time he steals from the rich to give to the poor and then decides he quite likes being rich and keeps the money instead…

A Little Inquest Into What We Are All Doing Here is happening again. Bring on 2025 💥

In 2022 a show I was making was cancelled while it was still in rehearsal. The idea of the show created a demand for it to be left unseen. A Little Inquest Into What We Are All Doing Here is about that. This show being programmed is an active gesture for theatre to remain a space for people to perform and watch work that is political. Presenting the show and offers some hope for makers who want to talk openly and honestly about subjects that some institutions find too complicated to stage.

Winning a fringe first often means your work will tour, that it will continue to meet audiences, and it will keep conversations going. There are lots of reasons that I doubt this show will be programmed in this country. An award like this acknowledges that this show happened and was here regardless of what the future of it is.

We will all need to continue to be creative, continue to be resilient and continue to push for joy to make, programme and watch work that is political. We will need to find spaces to do this outside of institutions that want to stop us from saying what we want to say. The trust that have given me and being at the festival over the last month, has reaffirmed that this is possible.

Thank you to the team that stood by me by making this together - that is more than I could have ever imagined. Thank you to everyone else who has supported this in their very many ways.

Here’s to finding another way to make the next one.
