The Cleaners Union guarantees that cleaners are treated fairly and are supported at work. A variety of organisations hire cleaners to do sanitization work and to keep buildings, offices, restaurants, hospitals, and other workplaces clean and organised.
We ensure that the Cleaners we employ receive the national minimum salary, proper protective care, and are not subjected to abuse at work.

The Cleaner’s Union is the only non-profit organisation in the UK that solely represents and protects cleaners' rights as well as allows them an opportunity to speak out against workplace exploitation and abuse.

In fact, during the pandemic, cleaners have been overworked, underpaid, and subjected to unsafe working conditions. They have also been considered disposable and replaceable employees.
The Cleaner's Union would then end these gross mistreatments of those who were awarded the title of "key worker" but without any of the benefits that come with it. Sadly, service providers are abusing the lack of rights of cleaners by threatening to fire them if they refuse to work in these conditions.

The Union is run transparently and seeks to strengthen a sense of community and dedication to defending cleaners' rights. As our members are essential and crucial, we are always accountable for every one of them.
Together we are strong and divided we are vulnerable.

A disappointing reply from the government today in response to our recent letter to Downing Street.
Having called on them to address the underlying culture that led to the findings in Sue Gray’s report, their response was to repeat the apology and statement given at the time.
They have made no effort to reply to our concerns and there is no indication that real change will happen. Given that it was sent on the day the PM has resigned makes us wonder if they hope this issue will be ‘lost in the shuffle.’
We will continue to campaign to create an environment within all workplaces where cleaners feel safe in their job, without fear of ridicule, and where their voices are heard.
Perhaps the new Prime Minister will take a different view and engage with our proposals to put an end to workplace abuse and exploitation and secure a fairer future for these essential key workers.

Cleaners are an integral part of any workplace, but they often seem invisible and inaudible. Many cleaners are forced to work in dangerous working conditions and are overworked and underpaid.
Cleaners' Union is the only union that represents and strives to make cleaners' voices heard in any UK workplace.

As stated by Dr. Paul Chiy, founder of the Cleaners Union and thus quoted by the Evening Standard: "These are the same cleaners that were at the frontline of the pandemic and were called 'key-staff'.” [...] “This is immediately forgotten away from the camera. They are not only left to clean up the dirt but are treated as such. This is unacceptable.”

As stated by the Week, unions have reacted to the revelations with anger.
Dr. Paul Chiy, the founder of the Cleaners Union, told the Evening Standard that he was “appalled that underpaid and overworked cleaners” were left to mop up the mess after-parties, while Jim Melvin, chairman of the British Cleaning Council, said No. 10 cleaners appear to have been treated with “contempt”.
