Why do global collaboration and diverse perspectives matter in OCD research?

During the 2026 Orchard OCD International Scientific Conference, Professor Carolyn Rodriguez and Andrew sat down to discuss the value of bringing together researchers, clinicians, people with lived experience and colleagues from around the world.

Carolyn reflects on how international collaboration can help researchers share data, learn from differences in access to care across countries, and think about how effective interventions can be implemented more widely.

“We want to invite everybody into the conversation. And the more perspectives that we have, the better.”

They also discuss the importance of supporting early-career researchers, mentorship across generations and creating opportunities for more people to get involved in OCD research and advocacy.

Why do networking, awareness and collaboration matter in OCD research and care?

During the 2026 Orchard OCD International Scientific Conference, Lynne Drummond and Andrew sat down to discuss what makes bringing together researchers, clinicians and people with lived experience so valuable — and why that momentum needs to continue beyond the conference itself.

Lynne reflects on decades of working in OCD, the importance of international collaboration, and the need to raise public awareness alongside improving clinical education and resources.

“Power comes when the people start demanding it. It’s got to come from the grassroots.”

They also discuss why conferences like this can help build connections across countries and disciplines, creating opportunities for new ideas, collaborations and, ultimately, progress in OCD research and care.
