This week marks the final session of our Girls in Construction club, and the penultimate week for our Summer Construction Club.

We have been really excited to see the positive results. Everyone who has attended been excited to get involved, eager to learn, and producing excellent products.

We have seen these young people achieve amazing things. From carpentry, to painting, to plumbing, these young people have developed skills in a wide range of construction skills.

There has been nothing but enthusiasm here and we are excited for one more week.

Exciting delivery!

The roof for our shepherd hut have arrived.

Whilst this week at our summer club, our group have been working hard to learn some additional construction skills, next week they will be working towards roof installation.

As you can see, they have already done a lot of impressive work to build this hut but there is still lots more for them to learn and to get stuck into.

Another week of our Girls in Construction club!

Practicing both carpentry and painting, our girls built stools.

We are very proud to be providing this for these young people. It is a safe and engaging environment for young women to learn new skills, meet new people, and be welcome in an accepting space.

Communities needs to provide more spaces for young people to be safe, welcome, and happy.

Week 3 of the shepherd's hut project, is complete!

This week, they have installed the water-tight membrane to the hut frame. This keeps the structure water-tight and able to withstand outdoor storage and weathering.

Learner Achievement 🎉

In July we are celebrating Kara!

This month Kara started her first week working on New Meaning Foundation's patient employment scheme as Trainee Graphics and Design Officer.

She has an amazing first week! She took on all tasks given to her, she worked hard, she learned a lot of new techniques and tools, and she produced some amazing designs all in her first week.

We are super excited to watch Kara grow in this role and are confident that she will be able to achieve amazing things.

Week 2 of the Girls in Construction project with Wood Woman is complete!

We have had lots of new starters this week; all eager to get stuck in and learn some new construction skills.

This week they were learning more carpentry skills by making bookends, they were painting, and they were practicing joints. We are really excited to see how everything turned out.

Ever wanted to learn real, practical construction skills?

Our girls-only summer club with Wood Woman is still open for sign up!

Whether you've never picked up a tool before, or you're already interested in a career in construction, this is your chance to learn the foundations of construction in a welcoming and supportive environment.

- Learn from female construction professionals
- Try practical construction skills
- Build confidence and learn what you are capable of
- Meet other young women with similar interests
- No experience required

The best part? It is completely free!

Our first week is now complete. Already there has been lots of learning, enthusiasm, and achievements. The girls have learned carpentry joints, make a small wood frame, and to fix a hole in plasterboard!

Every Wednesday and Thursday between 22nd July to 27th August
10am - 3:30pm
Open to 12-25 year olds
Female only (trans-inclusive)
