The Whitworth Trust is a registered charity, formed to provide support for vulnerable, homeless young women in Cambridge. The objects of the Charity are the relief of poverty; more particularly amongst women normally resident in the City and County of Cambridge, who need:
i) supported residential accommodation for young women such as that provided by Whitworth House
ii) other assistance and support in finding and securing secure and affordable accommodation. Whitworth House -- a hostel whose residents we were originally set up to support -- was officially opened in Cambridge in 1998. It currently accommodates 13 women, aged from 16-25 years. It provides a supporting, environment for the residents, enabling them to undertake training and qualifications and work towards independence. All of the residents are able to stay in the House for up to two years. In addition to our support of Whitworth House, The Whitworth Trust also works alongside local agencies like Jimmy's, and Hope Cambridge, in order to provide emergency and supported accommodation for women in the city.
