It was lovely to be joined at this week’s worship by guest preacher, Mother Charlotte Gibson, Anglo-Catholic Missioner and Assistant DDO in the diocese of Birmingham. Anticipating the Feast of St Luke, we reflected on what St Luke teaches us about what we really need in order to undertake mission.

We were also grateful to Mother Charlotte for leading a session earlier in the day as part of our in-house Mission, Evangelism and Pioneering (MEP) formational programme. Looking at the learning from the Birmingham Anglo-Catholic Mission Project so far, students were encouraged to reflect on the unique missional opportunities the catholic tradition offers, and how we might approach mission in sacramental parishes in light of this. It has also been such a joy to welcome our new colleague and Director of Contextual Training, Revd Ayodeji Audu who joined our staff team last month. Following his licensing last week by the Bishop of Ely, it was great to see Ayo presiding at our Quiet Day on Friday.

Presiding at the service was our chaplain, Revd Canon Nick Moir, assisted by some of our returning students in the altar party, as we took joy in welcoming our newcomers to Westcott’s chapel.

Following on from a successful launch in July, the full contents of the special issue of Practical Theology, Vol 19 (2) on ‘Congregational Studies in the UK and USA (2005-2025)’ is now available to read online: https://www.tandfonline.com/toc/yprt20/19/2

This special edition consists of papers presented at the Congregational Studies Symposium 2025 which was jointly organised by Westcott House and the Centre for Baptist Studies at Regent’s Park College, Oxford.
