Giving a BIG shout out to Re-Imagine Resource Centre, Community Kitchen and Solidarity Larder.

Having visited last Friday to get a selection of materials, blankets and art supplies for our projects, Ruth happily gave me a whole bag of bread - free of charge!

We used this at Histon Youth Club yesterday providing chocolate spread on toast to all attendees! It was such a treat having 'posh bread' to serve.

Thanks Ruth - you are awesome!

What/Where/Who and How?

Re-Imagine Resource Centre is based at Witchford Recycling Centre, Stirling Way, Witchford, CB6 3FA

Re-Imagine collects materials from which have been donated by businesses. These can then be reused by our members. Membership is available to community groups and individuals subject to our terms and conditions.
This has lots of benefits such as:

Reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill
Giving people a chance to use these resources creatively
Reducing the amount of new materials that are used which helps save the world's resources.
Saving people money on creative and DIY materials
Encouraging creative play and skills
Giving people access to unusual and exciting items and materials not found in shops or online

It is for me?
Yes, whether you are part of an organisation or an individual. Re-Imagine is for everyone. Come and see for yourself. You'll be amazed at what we have and you'll amaze yourself with what you can do with it.

To use Re-Imagine Resource Centre you will need to become a member. This is a very simple process. On your first visit we will ask you to complete the membership form. If you like you can download and print the form from our website and bring it with you. While you are choosing your materials we will process your membership and give you your membership card before you leave. You will need to bring your card with you whenever you come back to use the Resource Centre.

The Re-Imagine Resource Centre is open to everyone. So whether you are a teacher, parent, student, child minder, youth leader, or just somebody with a creative project in mind, the Re-Imagine Resource Centre is for you.

Materials can be bought by the bag or trolley load.

💚 Can you help us create a Chill Zone for our mobile youth clubs? 💚

We’re looking to create a cosy, welcoming space in our pop up youth clubs where young people can relax, chat with friends, play a game or simply take some time out.

We’re looking for good-quality pre-loved or new items, including:

🪑 Camping/folding chairs
🛋️ Cushions
🧺 Blankets/throws
⛺ Camping mats/tables
🪑 Small folding stools
💡 Battery/USB fairy lights or lanterns
🎈 Bunting
🃏 Small card and board games
🧸 Fidget/stress-relief items
🎨 Art/drawing materials

We have limited space in our van, so smaller, easily stored items are particularly useful.

If you have anything suitable that you no longer need and would be happy to donate, we’d be incredibly grateful. Every donation will help us create a more comfortable and welcoming space for young people attending our free youth clubs across Cambridgeshire.

We are running another 10-week Babysitting Course for young people from Waterbeach and surrounding areas at Cottenham Village College.

It will start on Thursday 24th September, straight after school 3.15 - 5pm.

There are 4 more spaces available and we'd love them to go to young people who attend WAY (Waterbeach Action for Youth) Youth Clubs on a Wednesday or Thursday evening.

Recruiting Now for The Generation Game in Milton!
Starting on Thursday 17th September

Are you in Year 9 or above?
We're looking for 15 young people to join our exciting Generation Game Project this September!

This fun, interactive 10-week course will help you develop the skills, confidence and knowledge to become a caring and confident visitor to older people. Along the way you'll gain recognised qualifications, make new friends and build valuable experience for your future.

What's in it for you?

✔ Support your Duke of Edinburgh Award (Skills Section)

When, where and what is it?
When: every Thursday (starting Thursday 17th September)
Time: 4.15pm – 5.45pm
Where: All Saints Church, Milton
How much: £20 for the whole 10-week course

Each session starts with hot chocolate and cake while everyone relaxes after school.

Then we'll explore a different topic each week through fun activities, discussions, games and guest speakers. You'll learn about:

• Being a great visitor to older people
• Understanding dementia
• Supporting people living in care homes
• Building friendships across generations
• How your skills and interests can make a difference

You'll also visit a local care home or host an activities session for local older people to attend and put your new skills into practice.

By the end of the course, you'll receive:

• A portfolio of your work
• Dementia Friends Certificate
• First Aid Certificate
• Valuable volunteering experience
• The opportunity to continue volunteering in your local community

These achievements can strengthen college, university and job applications while helping you make a positive impact in the lives of others.

The course is delivered by experienced Youth Workers from The Connections Bus Project and funded by Milton Parish Council, who can’t wait to make this available for local young people.

A brilliant afternoon at Etheldred House Care Home - Excelcare today with six young people from the Generation Game project. They spent time in both Strawberry House and Cherry House, chatting, painting, reading poems and bringing so much joy to the residents.
Their confidence, empathy and natural kindness shone throughout — and several of them said they can’t wait to come back. Moments like these show just how powerful intergenerational connections can be.
