A brilliant afternoon at Etheldred House Care Home - Excelcare today with six young people from the Generation Game project. They spent time in both Strawberry House and Cherry House, chatting, painting, reading poems and bringing so much joy to the residents.
Their confidence, empathy and natural kindness shone throughout — and several of them said they can’t wait to come back. Moments like these show just how powerful intergenerational connections can be.

🌟 Could you be one of our next Generation Game participants? 🌟

We're delighted to announce that Generation Game is coming to Milton this September!

If you're in Year 9 or above, this is your chance to be part of a fun and rewarding 10-week programme where you'll gain valuable life skills, recognised qualifications and make a real difference in your local community.

Throughout the course you'll:
💙 Learn how to support and connect with older people.
⛑️ Gain a First Aid Certificate.
🧠 Become a Dementia Friend.
🤝 Build confidence, communication and leadership skills.
🎓 Strengthen your CV, college, university or job applications.
😊 Make new friends and have lots of fun along the way!

One of the highlights of the programme is putting your new skills into practice by visiting older people in your local community and helping to create meaningful connections across generations.

Our recent Generation Game graduates described the course as one of the best things they've done, with parents telling us they noticed huge improvements in their children's confidence, communication skills and willingness to get involved in their community.

A huge thank you to Milton Parish Council for funding this programme and making it possible for local young people to take part.

🎉 Congratulations to our amazing Generation Game graduates! 🎉
Last night we celebrated the achievements of 15 incredible young people who completed our 10-week Generation Game programme in Melbourn.
This course was made possible thanks to the generous support of The Evelyn Trust, whose funding has enabled us to deliver this valuable programme for local young people. We are incredibly grateful for their investment in helping young people develop confidence, life skills and stronger community connections.
Family, friends and supporters joined us as each participant shared something they had learned during the course. From First Aid training and becoming Dementia Friends to building confidence, communication skills and understanding of older generations, every young person has achieved so much.
A huge thank you to the Manager of Melbourn Springs Care Home, who joined us to tell everyone how much the residents and staff enjoyed the group's recent visit. Even better, our young people have been invited back, with the opportunity to receive further dementia training in the future.
Every graduate received:
🏅 A Generation Game Certificate
⛑️ A First Aid Certificate
💙 A personalised word-art keepsake filled with compliments written by their fellow group members
The room was full of proud parents, grandparents and supporters celebrating everything these young people have accomplished. One parent even commented that the course contained valuable lessons that would benefit adults caring for ageing family members too.
We're incredibly proud of every one of our graduates and thankful to everyone who has supported the programme. A special thank you to The Evelyn Trust for helping make this opportunity possible and to all our partners and families for encouraging these fantastic young people every step of the way.

📢 Bookings are now open for our September Babysitting Courses in Histon & Cottenham!

Do you know a young person who wants to start babysitting with confidence?

Our 10-week Babysitting Course gives young people the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to become safe, responsible babysitters. Throughout the course, we'll cover:
👶 Preparing for a babysitting job
🍼 Changing nappies and caring for babies and young children
💬 Dealing with challenging situations
⛑️ Basic first aid
🔥 Fire safety
🏡 Keeping themselves and the children in their care safe and well looked after

It's a practical, fun and interactive course that equips young people with real-life skills they'll use for years to come.

We're delighted to be running a 3-Day Intensive Babysitting Course in Haslingfield during the summer holidays! 🎉

Thanks to funding from the South Cambridgeshire District Council Community Chest Grant, we're able to offer this fantastic opportunity for young people aged 14+ to gain valuable skills, confidence, and a recognised babysitting qualification.
