From celebrating achievements at our Annual General Meeting to showcasing the skills, teamwork and spirit of our Cadets throughout the week, National Cadets Week has been a fantastic reminder of everything young people gain - and everything they give - with Sea Cadets.

Our Cadets shown exactly why Sea Cadets is such a powerful place for confidence, adventure and growth. The energy across the Unit this week has been brilliant, and the pride from families and volunteers has been just as strong.

⚓ National Cadets Week - Spotlight ⚓

We had a brilliant evening on Fri 2 Oct as we celebrated the progress and hard work of our Cadets at our Annual General Meeting. With families, volunteers and supporters in attendance, it was a great chance to recognise the skills, confidence and commitment our young people show week after week.

⚓ National Cadets Week - Skills for Life ⚓

As we celebrate National Cadets Week, we are shining a spotlight on the skills our young people gain through Sea Cadets - skills that set them up for life, build confidence, and open doors to future opportunities.

Last month, our Junior Cadets took part in a STEM Proficiency Day, exploring science, technology, engineering and maths through hands‑on activities designed to spark curiosity and develop practical problem‑solving skills.

Events like this are at the heart of what Sea Cadets offers: a chance for young people to learn by doing, discover new interests, and grow into capable, confident individuals ready to take on new challenges.

👏 A huge well done to all our Junior Cadets for their energy and commitment - and to our Adult Volunteers who make these opportunities possible.

What would you do in an emergency?

At Sea Cadets, young people learn life-saving first aid skills, then put them to the test through realistic training and national competitions that build confidence, teamwork and leadership under pressure.

Those skills don't stay in the classroom. Time and again, cadets have used their training to help others in real-life emergencies, proving that young people can make an extraordinary difference when it matters most.

Thousands of young people across the UK will take part in the first-ever National Cadets Week from 5-11 October 2026 in a national celebration of the Cadet Forces.

The Cadet Forces are one of the largest youth movements in the United Kingdom. Just over 137,000 young people take part in fun, rewarding and life-changing cadet experiences, supported by around 28,000 adult volunteers in more than 3,000 locations across all four Home Nations.

His Majesty The King has praised members of the Cadet Forces and the adult volunteers who lead cadet groups across the country.

The King paid tribute to the five military Cadet Forces and the National Fire Cadets, Volunteer Police Cadets and St John Ambulance Cadets.

In a letter to the Cadet Forces, His Majesty The King said:

“For more than a century, the Cadet Forces have helped generations of young people discover their strengths, broaden their horizons and develop the confidence to face life’s challenges. In every part of our country, from our cities and towns to our rural and coastal communities, cadets come together to learn new skills, build lasting friendships and contribute positively to the communities in which they live.”

⚓ National Cadets Week - Cadets in the Community ⚓

This week, Cadet Forces across the country are recognising the incredible contribution cadets make to their communities - and here in Cambridge, we are proud to celebrate one of our own.

On Sunday, Corporal Champion accompanied the Lord Lieutenant at the county’s annual Justice Service at Ely Cathedral, representing both Cambridgeshire and the Sea Cadets with confidence, professionalism and maturity.

Her role as a Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet places her at the heart of civic life in the county - supporting official engagements, meeting community leaders, and demonstrating the very best of what young people can achieve through the Sea Cadets.
