“Rob’s work was instrumental in broadening my understanding of the possibilities within contemporary art and exposing me to a wider range of artistic approaches and opportunities.” Adam Bridgland _bridgland

For more than four decades, Rob Ryan has created works that combine intricate craftsmanship with storytelling, becoming one of the UK’s most distinctive voices in contemporary printmaking and paper cutting.

Working across printmaking and cut paper, Ryan draws on memory, imagination and personal reflection to create works that are at once intimate and universal.

“A lot of my work is based on memory, dreams of imagined pasts and futures and, to be honest, just me trying to make some sort of sense out of this cockeyed caravan.” Rob Ryan

His delicate imagery and poetic narratives have earned him an international following, with works that explore childhood, relationships, longing, nostalgia and the passing of time.

You can see Rob’s works: Teardrop (2012), Can We? Shall We? (2010), When I Was a Child (2026), I Miss Being a Small Girl (2010) and Dressing for School (2012) all at [In]Press.

Spanning zinc plate etching, screen print and his signature laser-cut works, these pieces demonstrate the breadth of Ryan’s practice and his ability to transform everyday memories and emotions into compelling visual stories.

“I have long admired the vitality of Katherine’s mark-making and the sensitivity of her colour palette, both of which consistently bring a sense of energy and joy to her work.” , curator of [In]Press

’s practice is underpinned by drawing and painting, culminating in richly layered, painterly prints that bring together disparate narratives in hyper-real and folkloric spaces. Perceptions of safety and danger are often explored through recurring motifs such as houses, flowers, suns and trees.

Working across collograph and block printing techniques, she creates prints that are both tactile and expressive. Through layered surfaces, energetic mark-making and a distinctive sensitivity to colour, her work balances delicacy and intensity, creating images that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant.

Katherine is a printmaker and painter based in Brixton, South London. After studying at Cambridge School of Art , she went on to complete her MA at and later undertook postgraduate study at the Royal Academy Schools. Jones’ work is held in collections around the world and is currently featured in the Summer Exhibition, one of the UK’s most celebrated annual showcases of contemporary art.

Works featured in [In]Press include Wishes of Others (2024), A Trap Crop (2025), Sycamore (2024), and the unique works Interlock (2019) and The Roots That Pull Water (2019).

Ahead of opening next week, we’re introducing more of the artists featured in [In]Press, a new selling exhibition of contemporary printmaking curated by .

Among them is Ines Fernandez de Cordova 🌙

A Bolivian artist based in London, Ines’ practice is rooted in printmaking, alongside sculpture, photography and painting. Using sculptures made from plaster and jesmonite as the foundation for her work, she creates prints that explore movement, sequence and storytelling.

Through repetition, mirroring and collage, her compositions suggest fragments of a larger narrative, balancing a sense of motion with the fixed nature of print. Her sculptural forms become tools for constructing uncanny scenes that evoke memory, atmosphere and emotion rather than literal representation.

Alongside her own practice, Ines has worked extensively within print studios in London as a printer, editioner and print technician at Camberwell College of Arts.

Discover Ines’ work alongside other contemporary printmakers at [In]Press, which opens with a preview and first chance to buy on Wednesday 3 June, 6–8.30pm. Sign up via link in bio 🔗

Open Wed–Sat, 10am–5pm from 4–20 June.

Rebecca’s picks🌟 Our volunteer Rebecca has chosen a few of her favourite items from around the shop to share with everyone:

Sorghum hand broom by Bec Wild
Who wouldn’t enjoy sweeping up with this beautiful hand broom? I love the elegant wing shape, the various bright and contrasting colours used for the h**p cord and the fact that it is handmade by Bec Wild, using only natural materials. Practical, beautiful and an unusual gift idea.

Sussex Lustreware X Rob Ryan Plaque

I’m a big fan of pink, folk art and ceramics, so this is the perfect combination. The mottos, poems and images on many of the lustreware pieces, including on this wall plate, remind me of, and in some cases are a direct quote from, the scrolls of proverbs, hymns and literature painted by David Parr on the walls of his house. This piece always makes me smile.

Anna Osbourne pouch

I love that Anna uses a mix of old and new textiles to create her wonderful pouches. I particularly like the contrasting patterns, fabrics and textures on each, giving them both personality and individuality. The free-machine embroidered birds, insects and animals are works of art in themselves. Beautiful and useful too!

Esther Kent cards

These cards are so joyful, creative, colourful and playful. I love Esther’s style which feels so free, with plenty of movement and life, particularly in the animals and creatures she depicts. The cards also come in various formats, including concertina style, which only contribute to the fun and engagement. A joy to receive and perfect for display all year round.

The Making of Home by Judith Flanders

I have always been fascinated by the history of houses and the changes and developments in design, architecture and interiors over the years. This book explores the concept of “home” as a relatively new idea and considers how our homes differ today from those in the past. A good companion to a visit to David Parr’s family home.
