Raspberry Pi Foundation

Raspberry Pi Foundation A charity that enables young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing.

We engage millions of young people in learning computing and digital making skills through a thriving network of clubs and events, and through partnerships with youth organisations. We enable any school to offer students the opportunity to study computing and computer science by providing the best possible curriculum, resources, and training for teachers. We work to deepen our understanding of how

young people learn about computing and digital making, and to use that knowledge to increase the impact of our own work and to advance the field of computing education. We make computing and digital making accessible to all by providing low-cost, high-performance single-board computers and free software. Raspberry Pi Foundation is a registered charity in England and Wales (1129409).

Can AI support creativity? ✨

AI is often framed as threatening creative work either by automating it or by encouraging imitation. But Professor Rebecca Fiebrink’s work on creative machine learning suggests a more useful way to think about this relationship.

In our March research seminar, Rebecca shared how people can use meaningful data with machine learning to build new kinds of creative projects.

Her seminar showed how educators can support learners to explore AI through artistic movement, sound, experimentation, and play.

Mission Zero programs have now been running on the ISS 🚀

Here’s ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot watching her own program run on an Astro Pi computer aboard the International Space Station 🛰️

Sophie’s program displays her mission patch: a hummingbird at the centre, surrounded by a ring of small dots symbolising the many small contributions that together make great achievements possible.

Next week, everyone who successfully completed the challenge will receive a certificate showing the exact time and location of the ISS in orbit when their program ran - a unique snapshot of their code in space ✨
