Arthur Rank Hospice Charity We're here to Make Every Moment Count for patients & families & connect our supporter community. Contracted services from the NHS are budgeted at £8.1 million.

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity supports people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care. Our ‘Outstanding’ services are provided free of charge to patients and their families. Our aim being to provide the highest quality care, helping people to make every moment count. Around 3,600 patients each year are cared for at the Hospice in Cambridge, the Alan Hudson Centre in Wisbech and in patients’ own homes via the Arthur Rank Community Team. This care supports people to improve their quality of life and fulfil their end of their life choices. It will cost over £14 million to run our services in 2025/2026. With the help of our community, we need to raise a further £5.9 million through donations, fundraising activities, retail sales, The Education and Conference Centre and Bistro. If we fail to meet this target the difference will, reluctantly, have to be taken from our limited reserves.. Sustaining services for people in our community is our focus and therefore we are extremely grateful to everyone who demonstrates their dedication, commitment and generosity and helps protect our reserves for the future. Join us in celebrating ten years of care in Shelford Bottom.

This November marks ten years since we welcomed our first patient to our purpose-built Hospice in Shelford Bottom. To celebrate this milestone, we'd love to invite community members to one of our Hospice Open Days.

Whether you've supported Arthur Rank Hospice Charity over the years or want to learn more about the care we provide, this is a wonderful opportunity to meet our team, hear about our work and take a guided tour of the Hospice.

Guests will enjoy a welcome drink in our Bistro, hear from a senior member of our team and have the chance to ask questions before joining the tour.

Do you know what heavy-duty shovels, bird feeders and water-based tempera paint have in common?

They're all currently on our Amazon Wish List.

While they might seem like unusual requests, each one has an important role to play. Some help our gardens look their best; others are needed to run activities for patients and visitors. And all of them support the day-to-day work of the Charity.

Looking for a creative way to start the festive season with friends?

Our festive wreath making workshops have proved so popular that the Saturday session is now fully booked.

If you'd still like to join us, there are places available on Friday 13 November 6:30 - 8:30pm, when Flora Laura Flowers will guide you through creating your own beautiful wreath.

Martin Robinson and his sister Frances Laughton have signed up to the Cambridge to Ely Trek in March 2027 in memory of Martin's wife Kayoko.

Kayoko was supported by both our Hospice at Home team and our Inpatient Unit after a long battle with breast cancer. Martin and Frances shared how much the care meant to them during such a difficult time.

The trek takes place the day before what would have been Kayoko's 59th birthday, making it an emotional day for the family.

Frances said: "Kayoko would be delighted to know we are fundraising together to help other people in need of hospice care, especially by doing the Trek, as she was at her happiest outdoors and walking whenever she could, preferably with family and friends.”

Chair Fit with Sarah is back at Arthur's Shed!

Looking for a gentle way to improve mobility, strength and confidence?

Join Sarah, a registered yoga teacher with advanced training in trauma and mental health, for Chair Fit sessions that focus on supported movement in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Held in Arthur's Shed, our accessible garden studio, the sessions are free to attend and open to everyone - no connection to the Charity is needed.

The sessions take place every other Wednesday, starting on 21 October.

No young person should have to navigate grief alone.

This autumn, we're running 'Sharing What It's Like', a series of creative workshops for young people aged 8-16 who are experiencing bereavement.

Led by Art Therapist Sophie and animator Jenny Wright, the sessions offer a supportive space for young people to connect with others who have had similar experiences, share their feelings, learn creative skills and have fun together.

You may have seen us featured on ITV in a report on the funding pressures facing hospices across the UK.

Last year, we launched our Protect Our Care campaign after funding for nine of the 21 beds on our Inpatient Unit ended. Thanks to our community's support, we've been able to keep all 21 beds available until March 2027 and introduce Medically Light Beds, helping more people across Cambridgeshire access specialist hospice care.

While we're incredibly grateful for that support, our work isn't over. We now need to secure further funding to ensure this care can continue beyond next year.
