Arthur Rank Hospice Charity

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity We're here to Make Every Moment Count for patients & families & connect our supporter community. Contracted services from the NHS are budgeted at £8.1 million.

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity supports people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care. Our ‘Outstanding’ services are provided free of charge to patients and their families. Our aim being to provide the highest quality care, helping people to make every moment count. Around 3,600 patients each year are cared for a

t the Hospice in Cambridge, the Alan Hudson Centre in Wisbech and in patients’ own homes via the Arthur Rank Community Team. This care supports people to improve their quality of life and fulfil their end of their life choices. It will cost over £14 million to run our services in 2025/2026. With the help of our community, we need to raise a further £5.9 million through donations, fundraising activities, retail sales, The Education and Conference Centre and Bistro. If we fail to meet this target the difference will, reluctantly, have to be taken from our limited reserves.. Sustaining services for people in our community is our focus and therefore we are extremely grateful to everyone who demonstrates their dedication, commitment and generosity and helps protect our reserves for the future. Bridge the Gap is a family-friendly fundraising event for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity and Romsey Mill, taking place on Sunday 13 September.

This 3.5-mile walk about Cambridge colleges is a great way to spend a Sunday morning, and to keep little ones interested, we have a fun treasure hunt. For just £3 you can take part. You’ll be given a sheet with clues, and as you go into each college, you’ll be looking for something of note to answer the questions.

All completed booklets will win a prize on return to Parker’s Piece. Bridge the Gap is free for children to take part (when accompanied by a paying adult), and the Treasure Hunt is just £3 per child.

You can book your tickets and the treasure hunt here: https://ow.ly/nAOF50Zb6FY

Next in our series of college reveals for the upcoming Bridge the Gap walk, hosted by Arthur Rank Hospice Charity and Romsey Mill, is Downing College.

This college, founded in 1800, is often described as the “oldest of the new and newest of the old”, as it holds the position of the 17th college to be founded within the University of Cambridge.

A big thank you to Downing College for being part of this year’s walk. So far, we have revealed Queens’, St John’s and Trinity... What will be next?

Fancy finding out more? Sign up today, and don’t forget that three children (16 and under) go free with every paying adult. https://ow.ly/P44u50Z9TrP

Joanna Byers, one of our Specialist Palliative Care Occupational Therapists, took part in the ‘Stronger for Longer’ community event at C3 Church, alongside one of our Occupational Therapy students.

It was a great opportunity for Joanna to connect with local organisations and talk to members of the public about how we support people living with an advanced serious illness.

One of the most important messages she shared was that hospice care isn’t only about the final days of life, but also about helping people live well earlier on in their diagnosis.

Joanna also enjoyed meeting other organisations working to support wellbeing in the community, and we look forward to being part of more events like this in the future. 💚

We’re getting ready to introduce something a little special: Something new is coming to our Ely shop! 💚

To help us prepare, we’re looking for donations of wedding dresses and bridal accessories, including veils and shoes, all in good condition.

You can drop items off at any of our shops — just label them clearly as ‘bridal’ so they can make their way to Ely. If you have something tucked away that deserves a second walk down the aisle, we’d love to hear from you. 👰
