We’re moving to Facebook groups! 📢
From now on, we’ll be focusing our Facebook activity on the following groups where we have been active to date:

CoOrdinators UK
Teacher UK
School EAL/ELL/ESL Teachers

We will no longer be posting regularly on our main page.

Why the change❓
We want to be where meaningful conversations happen. In these closed groups, you’ll find:

▪ Relevant EAL news and updates✅
▪ Practical tips for educators✅
▪ Guidance and free resources✅
▪ Opportunities to ask questions and get direct answers from our experienced EAL trainers✅

If you’re a teacher, teaching assistant or EAL Co-ordinator, join the conversations in these communities – we’d love to see you there! 👥

How can we better support EAL learners moving from Year 6 to Year 7?
Here are 2️⃣ quick tips from our EAL trainer:

• Prepare for more listening 👂 – In KS3, learners spend longer listening to teacher input. Start practicing listening for gist and detail, and build confidence in asking for clarification.

• Support vocabulary development 🔠 – Vocabulary demands rise sharply at KS3. KS2 teachers can introduce more specialist terms early; KS3 teachers should explain new terminology clearly.

In the latest blog, our EAL trainer, Tom Beakes, explores how teachers can harness unplanned, student-generated language to support EAL learners – who now make up over 20% of schoolchildren in England. 📚🌍
