We have now locked the gates and we will be taking a much needed half term break.
We finished on a high this morning with a record 17 volunteers helping out , including two on a work volunteer day from Cambridge Building Society.
We also welcomed Rachel and Kate from The PEM Charitable Trust who have helped us out with a generous grant this year.
Lastly we’d like to thank the local Linus Project ladies who regularly donate the most amazing handmade quilts - you can see there is a label in each . They’re just lovely and we know they are so popular.
We hope you all have a great half term and we look forward to seeing you back on Nov 3rd.

Great to see the progress on our improved play area this week!
The toddler area for ride on toys is bigger so any donations of tractors would be gratefully accepted- they must be in very good condition please

Booking for Singing Mamas next half term is now available. Singing Mamas is a women’s singing group where we sing fun and beautiful harmony songs. No experience of singing is required. Women of all ages with and without children welcome. Babies and children welcome to come with you.

There are a couple of changes to the timetable.

Singing Mamas Histon & Impington is still on Mondays, 1-2.30pm at the Salvation Army
Singing Mamas Cambridge will now be on Tuesdays, 10.30-12 at St Andrew’s Street Baptist Church
Singing Mamas Ely will be on Wednesdays, 10.30-12 at the Jubilee Church

We have got one week left before half term if you would like to come for a £5 taster. Free places also available for women facing financial hardship. The group is also free for anyone 36+ weeks pregnant. Message me for more me for more info.

On Thursday one of our members, Rachel, will be hosting a small gathering of remembrance as part of the Wave of Light in honour of Baby Loss Awareness Week at Celandine View park in Soham, from 6.30-7pm.

Rachel says:

‘This is an open invitation - all are welcome, whether you have been directly affected by babyloss or know someone who has (we all do, whether we know it or not).

By lighting candles we let others know that they are not alone in their grief. 1 in 5 pregnancies end in loss, and at whatever stage that loss can be devastating.

It can also be quiet, lonely and isolating. By recognising the pain of baby loss and witnessing each others grief, we are bonded in community.

Mornings at baby bank can be a great work out. A lot of the volunteer work is carrying bags and baby items around the site and if you’d like to help we’d love your energy and muscle!

Volunteering with us is easy and there’s no commitment. Just get in touch and arrange when to start. There’s a short form and then you can get going- with help and support from the other volunteers you will learn the ropes. There’s lots of roles and you’ll fit in with what suits you best.
