The premier place for Cantab students to chat about and watch Motorsports, including F1.

We're the The Cambridge University Motorsport Fans Society but that's just our formal name. We like to call ourselves the Motorsport Fans Soc, and we are open to all fans of motorsport racing (many of our members are particularly interested in Formula 1!), whether casual or long term! Our members have been fans since childhood or only got into the scene during lockdown, and we would love you to join our group if you are interested in the sport!

Second to last!!

Hi everyone, I'm Libby, a second year archaeologist at Girton. I am quite new to the F1 scene compared to the other committee members but don't mistake that for a lack of enthusiasm for the sport (not just the good looking drivers). I'm very excited to be in charge of our social media and, while also doing the necessary updates and information posts, I'm hoping to up the meme game. If you make any memes yourself and want them to be posted, do send them this way and they may be featured!

Hi everyone! I’m Aakash, a 2nd year Pembroke engineer, and I’m going to be your President for the next year! I’ve been a fan of F1 for over 15 years and hope to work in the sport at some point in the near future as well. My job is to work with the committee to help achieve their goals and set our direction so that we can be the best possible for all our members. I want to increase collaborations with other societies and unis, get some amazing stash and have more of you involved with events planning in smaller, lower commitment roles so that we are putting on events that are best for all of you. Next up!

Hi, I'm Duncan, I'm a second year engineer at Robinson. As treasurer, I will work with the rest of the committee to make the society bigger and better - more events, better events, and more fun. Hopefully we will soon have a budget as an officially recognised society, which will be put to excellent use in bringing about this fun. Unlike Mazepin, the budget will be put to good use, cared for, and never disappear suddenly.

Hustings are on Sunday March 13th during our Drive to Survive watch party in the Christ's TV Room.

Voting will open on Wed 16th March, and will be open for 48 hours.

This year members of our Committee were invited to Extreme E events, and have been central to creating a fantastic, friendly, and vibrant society for motorsports fans.

You can help boost the society to new heights in 2022-23!

ROLES ON OFFER (and what current officers have to say!)

President
I’ve had a great time being President of the Motorsport Fans Society! The president is the public spokesperson for the society and the committee, and usually present to host events, watch parties, etc. The president chairs committee meetings (with the help of the secretary) and oversees the different plans and projects undertaken by the other committee members, such as organising events or running the blog. It’s a rewarding role, and a great opportunity to lead the direction of the society and get involved in lots of different tasks and roles.

Treasurer

As treasurer, you’ll have a role to play in any of the financial aspects of the society that you choose. From general committee opportunities, like helping out at the watch parties and socials, to engaging your most shameful spreadsheet fantasies, there’s no end to how much you can achieve in this role! There’s no prior experience of financial management required, only creativity and common sense. It’s been an absolute blast working with the committee this year and helping deliver the excitement of racing to you, and I look forward to seeing some keen applicants!
