EVENT 2 RECAP!
So now that the dust has settled, let's take a look back at Event 2...
The townsfolk were surprised to discover that, once again, the barriers of reality had shifted, and another new tavern had replaced their own. This time, The Wizard's Sleeve had become Dante's Inferno.
Lifted straight from the Plains of Dis, this house of demonic respite belonged to the twin brothers Dredd and Moredredd, the secret children of Dante and Vile.
Despite some understandable hesitation from those Newgatians to whom daemonkind will always be viewed with suspicion, the denizens of Dante's Inferno revealed themselves to be daemons liberated from the slave armies of Butcher Mondo and Newgate's former Archduke, Mathew Murdoch, now living in a kingdom of relative peace and prosperity. It was here that Duke Oswald and the Demon Prince of the Exiles of Dis were able to, for the time being at least, put their differences aside in order to eliminate a mutual foe.
Later that evening, Professor Hugh Hubert and renowned monster hunter Kane Warlock led the Ghost Saver Society on an expedition to reclaim the lost soul of Gary, Newgate's forgotten champion and victim of the dreaded Forgetmazoid. With the Ghost Savers' help, Gary's spirit was successfully trapped within an effigy, ready to be transplanted into a worthy vessel and given a second chance at life. Fortunately, nobody else fell victim to the Forgetmazoid.
The following morning, news arrived that the maniacal Dr Meinschafter had re-emerged. Seeking revenge for the loss of his forge and the defeat of his evil counterpart, Baroness Elsbeth Von Nachtstein, he and his minions had assembled a terrifying new army of Yskenell hybrids, marching across Kernow with the sole intention of wiping Newgate from the map.
Meanwhile, the votes were counted, and Newgate elected its very first Mayor: newcomer Orpheus.
The townsfolk were then invited once more to meet with the Guardian of the Fae Realm, who, disturbed by Dr Meinschafter's grotesque experiments, gifted them the ancient ritual once used to create the Karrack. Using the gifts of the Free Races, a worthy soul, and—most importantly—a few very kind words, they set to work creating a golem of their own to oppose the Doctor and his creations.
That evening, the players ventured into the forest hoping to rescue Eno, only to find themselves confronted by a cult of Dlawsonites searching for something of their own. The battle was suddenly interrupted by the dramatic return of Orme Noobius, reborn as the new Sage.
The Sage revealed Dlawso's latest scheme: to reconstruct the Pencari Mirror of Attunement, an ancient device capable of opening stable gateways between the different planes of reality.
The following day, assisted by the Vikingr and Duke Oswald's spies, the town learned of Dr Meinschafter's imminent arrival and prepared to make their stand on home soil.
A fierce battle erupted between the forces of Newgate and the Doctor's monstrous army of abominations. But with the assistance of Adam, the newborn lifeform, Dr Meinschafter's reign of terror was finally brought to an end, and the last remnants of the Yskenell army were destroyed.
Once again, Newgate stood triumphant against insurmountable odds, and a brand-new race had been born to help defend the realm from whatever threats the future may bring.
With the Baroness imprisoned and the Doctor dead, only one member of the evil triumvirate remains...
His name... is Dlawso.
