STEP 2B: ATPL(A) Theory
The next stage of your training involves your 13 ATPL(A) Theory exams, which cover everything from Instrumentation to Mass & Balance, Performance to Air Law and so much more!
You will sit each of the 13 exams at one of a few dedicated exam centres dotted around the country, and they range in length, with the longest being 2hrs 15mins. The course is a minimum of 650hrs long, and can take between 6 months and 2 years. You can opt to complete your programme remotely, in-person or hybrid.
Before starting your modular ATPL(A) Theory, you must hold an ICAO-compliant PPL(A) - this is not a requirement for integrated courses.
Distance learning providers include Bristol Groundschool, CATS Aviation and Resilient Pilot, and in-person ATOs include Stapleford Flight Centre (Official), Aeros Flight Training, or Leading Edge Aviation.
