Some of our young people are taking part in a project about crime and justice. This week they met a magistrate, but for all the right reasons!

Today we hosted a visit by Callington’s latest girl band!

Members of Callington New Outlook were given a presentation on CYPG’s history and future plans (which will be further explained at our AGM - see below). They also made a very kind donation to our funds, and some thought they could become volunteers.

We are really short of volunteers to help us run our thrice weekly drop-in sessions, especially females. Likewise, volunteers who could drive our minibus on Monday evenings.

Volunteers would need to undergo a DBS check (which we pay for) and some basic training. The work is very rewarding and supports our youth workers to do their job.

We are holding our AGM at The Vault Youth Centre on Tuesday 27th October from 5.00pm. Please join us to find out what we do and see if you could help in any way.

Would you sponsor a bike rack for our young cyclists?

We would like to install a bike/scooter rack at the back of The Vault Youth Centre in Biscombe’s Lane so that young visitors to the youth club don’t clutter the pavement on Fore Street.

A wooden partition would have to be removed to reveal the open space behind (see old picture from Street View) and the “Sheffield” type bike rack would be bolted to the concrete floor (see pic; other suppliers are available).

Could you volunteer for us???? We really need more volunteers, especially females.

In particular we need females with a D1 classification on their driving licence to help run our Monday evening LiveWireBus service to Saltash. We need a male and female volunteer for each journey, each being able to drive in case the other is ill on the journey or has to deal with any emergency.

We also need someone who will come and do a weekly clean of The Vault Youth Centre anytime between Friday 7.00pm and Wednesday 4.00pm.

Can you help us? Email info@callingtonypg or call 07904 269 495 if you can.

Today we went litter picking! As a result free drinks and pizzas magically appeared. Thank you Calli Pizza Cafe.

This is the second of two important announcements!

Next Tuesday, Callington Town Council will consider a letter we have written to them, asking them to finance our operating costs for the next two years or so. In Saltash the council has dedicated £50,000 a year to each of two youth clubs for the next three years. That’s a massive £300,000. We are asking for just part of that in proportion to the population of Callington. It will keep us going until our project to refurbish the upper floors of The Vault Youth Centre into flats is complete, and we can earn some rental income. The flats would be let to young adults.

Please could you come to the meeting in the Town Hall on Tuesday 22nd September? It starts at 7.15pm and our letter is item 17 on the agenda.

Please come and support us and our young people!

BTW, did you see them on the BBC this evening (Thursday 17th)?
