Many gathered at the Calanais Stones to celebrate the summer solstice, coming together through traditional rituals, song, and dance.

Sharing in these gatherings brings a sense of joy and connection, reminding us of the importance of light, life, and community at this special time of year.

As always, it was wonderful to witness the uplifting atmosphere surrounding this incredible landscape and to see so many people celebrating together.

It's that time again - the official start of astronomical summer...

Could this be the year the Outer Hebrides enjoy some summer solstice sunshine and warmth?

While many celebrate throughout the day, it actually occurs at a precise moment. This year, the Northern Hemisphere reaches its maximum tilt towards the sun at 09.24am BST on 21 June, marking the astronomical start of summer.

The Summer Solstice is best known as the longest day and shortest night of the year. Across much of the Northern Hemisphere, darkness barely falls, creating those magical long summer evenings.

The word solstice comes from the Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still), referring to the Sun's apparent pause in its journey across the sky before it begins its gradual move southward once again.

How are you going to be spending solstice? whether you're greeting the sunrise, gathering with friends and family, or simply enjoying the extra daylight, we'd love to your photos and hear about your celebrations.
